Block work and lintel over, pea gravel around pipe... Assume you mean by private drain, you mean waste pipes from your own house and not some other buildings? I have a manhole in front driveway, going to create a access chamber into back of garden. joe90 Posted May 30 Share Posted May 30 All this info is available on the internet The minimum depth of any drain is 600mm.Once all the underground drains are laid, Building Control will need to see them and may ask for an air test to be carried out. Once the drain installation is approved the trenches can be backfilled, but first more granular fill is required at least up to the top of the pipes. Old houses frequently have cast iron stacks on the outside of the building so it was probably allowed in the past. One issue Is that stack should have a large radius vertically mounted bend at the bottom. Not sure how you would do that. How wide are the footings and how many pipes do you need to cross's them? As said above your BC will advise on what he will accept but before that draw us a diagram (cross section) showing heights of ground, foundations etc and many here will advise. vik2001 Posted June 1 Author Share Posted June 1 No I don't have any drawings this is why I'm in such a mess. The original private drain has had its manhole taken apart and dismantled. I don't have much room to fit a soil stack on side for toilet where bathroom is. I have a flat roof going on to.
