Pocster Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 What’s this white thing for ? Shows it in destructions - but not clear what it is for …
SteamyTea Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 (expletive deleted)ing iPrat users. Can't even take a picture that is viewable. It is part 13, or a similar number. 1
BotusBuild Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 It helps stabilise the tap from rocking side to side. Don't ask how I know 1

Pocster Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Suggests this . With worktop after white thingy . Just seems odd that the screws will push the metal washer against the rubber and then the lip of white thing ….
BotusBuild Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Chinglish has expanded to include diagrams 🙂 1
joe90 Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Never seen one of those with screws, usually the nut tightens the unit to the sink/worktop, perhaps to stop the tap revolving 🤷♂️ (clever these Chinese)
SteamyTea Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Is it an adaptor to fit the tap into a bigger hole.

Pocster Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Washer or rubber don’t even sit in the white thing
Pocster Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Think I’ll go with this arrangement!

Plastic bit spreads the load as tall taps can create large moments. Here's the one I fitted to a ceramic sink which does show position on install step, has similar nuts which act as the screws do on yours: https://www.caple.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/KON3_CH.pdf 1

I was eventually correct . Don’t think I’ll use the screws though - can’t see their benefit when I can just tighten the metal nut . Though …. I suppose when I can’t access the nut for further tightening the screws might be easier to access ???

Russell griffiths Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Fook it all off and go and buy a FRANKE tap brace. You will think of me in two years time when your tap is wobbling around like a cock in a sock and think, why didn’t I fit one of those braces like that clever bloke Russell said. Pop around later and bring me beer. 2 1

Correct IMO, that plastic “support” is better than some that use metal C shaped support (which bends when tightened). The “O” ring in its slot in the tap provides water proofing to the sink, washer spreads the load and nut tightens it all up, I still think the screws may help stop the nut undoing (locking devise 🤷♂️). I found this devise invaluable for accessing and tightening/undoing tap nuts. https://www.toolstation.com/adjustable-basin-wrench/p81935
