Conor
5degress is basically a flat roof. Typically min. 15⁰ for a standard tile, I've seen some low pitch ones down to 10⁰. You'll need some sort of flat roof or zinc panel system.

SteamyTea
They are closer to @Nic than you. We used to make a lot of architectural GRP back in the 1980s. Never really understood why it was not used more. Fake chimneys and naff porches may be part of the reason. And Reliant Robbins after a crash.
joe90
By the time the slates are lapped it will be nearer 0 degrees, so no. The GRP slate effect is great, really looks the part. Mind you, if it is virtually flat it won’t be seen and even a flat slate effect would look wrong to me. Just go standard GRP.
ToughButterCup
Who knew - you can get Tupperware slates. Bloody good idea. They'll go in the dishwasher. Tops!
Onoff
I presume they burn much better than real slate?

saveasteading
They will need to be fixed down top and bottom or they'll disappear in a strong wind. The excellent principle of old slates and tiles was that they had big overlaps, so one break exposed another layer. Also any rain blown upslope had a long way and a steep slope to overcome. That doesn't happen with modern designs. Beware trying any new product. Or try it and keep us informed.
