Canski
Hi all, As I get nearer to starting my problematic project I have been looking at drainage prices online. There seem to be some very cheap fittings and pipe out there that knock spots off my merchants prices. The question is are the products OK to use ? A drainage contractor that I used to divert a drain at a horrendous cost said that he wouldn't touch them but I suspect that he had ulterior motives for saying this. Examples of my merchant prices against drainage pipe.co.uk are bends around £6.80 against £3.26 from the online supplier 3m pipe SS £15.41 against £10.87 Double socket couplings £4 vs £2.09 All approved to BS EN 1401-1 Is there anything that I should be aware of ? BotusBuild
Canski, I got most of my drainage pipe online for the exact same reason - merchants were more expensive, in particular Travis Perkins. Trade Pipe, Plastics Express were two that I used. I did have to do emergency buys at TP when something went wrong (and that hurt!) Just think carefully about delivery if you are not onsite. I had delivery to home, and schlepped stuff down to site on my roof bars 🙂

crispy_wafer
I've just used united civils supplies for pipes they delivered the 6m jobbies (polypipe). Landscape plastics for bends and couplings, IC's and risers
Carrerahill
I always use Sky Plastics, they destroy Screwfix on price. My builders merch is pretty good too, but couplers for £1.25, or double socket bends for £2.19 you just cannot beat it.
nod
It will also depend on the make Flopsst which screwfix stock is nearly half the price of poly pipe which most of the merchants stock It is better quality But both do the same job Most ground workers prefer the later But there not buying it
Crunchynut
I found that an agricultural merchant was cheaper still, and had stock. I guess farmers won’t tolerate inflated prices.

I ordered all the drainage 10 days ago and they say they haven’t delivered due to ‘some items being on back order’ namely 110 mm UG pipe, 30, 45 and 90 deg bends and several other items that I can’t remember. saveasteading
Have you tried a specialist drainage merchant? Obviously they have to be good value and dependable all the time. We got ours that way and it was a long way cheaper than any others, incl screwfix, and all delivered. The pipes and connections were made by Funke, a German make I hadn't heard of. The rodding chambers were Brett Martin. The quality was good, with all connections smooth and efficient.
