NewToAllOfThis
Hi All, Is there an easy way to work out if and where Fire-Doors are required. I have shown all the doors in RED I have attached our new build layout. Kitchen/Diner is upstairs, together with bedroom and bathroom Downstairs there are 2 bedrooms and bathroom. The Gas Boiler is in a cupboard with door access in bedroom, there is also a washer/dryer in the downstairs cupboard. Any help appreciated Edited August 17, 2022 by NewToAllOfThis
CharlieKLP
Are your windows all fire escapes? if the stair is a protected area… All of the ones around the stair, apart from the bathroom need to be fd30 People I work with think you need to do bathrooms and cupboards too but they can’t explain where it says that. I’m happy to be corrected. Edited August 17, 2022 by CharlieKLP
Adsibob
Isn’t this that should come up in the review of the plans with your BCO?
nod
If your over three floors All your doors to the hallway stairs etc need to be fire doors Two story can be just normal doors Unless you have an attached garage with a door into the house That will need to be fire rated

Fire doors not needed in a two storey dwelling (except the door between an attached garage and the dwelling) as long as EEWs are provided to all habitable rooms and direct access to the stairwell is provided. See Approved Document B. Other caveats explained.
Nickfromwales
Things are further relaxed in a “single compartment dwelling” eg where there is an open plan hall / stairs / landing as a fire upstairs is assumed to be already downstairs and vice-versa. 2 storey, no need. Only on garage as already said.
