Lining a light well

Recommended Posts

For my many sins it’s finally time to come back and address this light well . Let’s get the laughter out the way - yes it will have walk on glazing .

As you can see it’s concrete with some PIR at the top . The concrete shuttering warped during the pour so it’s not level ( 2nd one is much worse - but that’s a problem for another day ) .

How best to line / prepare - possibly for tiling . Roofers batten vertically ( to get over the bow ) then tile backer board ??

Does it not need insulating ..??

No . The light well is outside the building . That window you can see is triple glazed . Council wanted it like this . So the light well isn’t even fixed to the main house .

I might've missed something, but how about reflective foil or similar? Sun pipes and endoscopes work by internal reflection  of glass (not the walk on type tho'...)

That would look pants wouldn’t it ? . Though you could cook in it I suppose ……

Yes but that requires some competency. Painting shit any mung can do …

epdm is easy, look at a couple of videos for internal and external corners and general flat roofs here and just becaue it says rubber in the webpage, don't get hot and bothered
