AD1
Hi, I've had several quotes from many of the window manufacturers including; Rationel, Norsken, Nordan, Weru, Internorm. Rationel are coming in very reasonable for their Alu-Clad Triple glazed AuraPlus windows. I seen the AuraPlus windows at the showroom and wasn't particularly blown away with the quality although they do look much better than uPVC imo. They seemed very light to open/ close and handles having more play than I would expect from a quality product? Since the showroom visit I've been searching the forum and see that alot of people are happy Rationel customers. But I've found alot of reviews questioning the quality. I'm looking for a bit of confidence that they aren't going to start rotting after a few years as the reviews describe given its one of the single biggest cost of my build. Thanks, A.D https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/rationel.co.uk https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.rationel.dk
ProDave
I wonder if the people talking of windows rotting and paint peeling are discussing the plain wooden windows rather than the aluminium clad version? Our aluminium clad windows have been in about 5 years, no rot, no leaks, no peeling paint, no failures.
Moonshine
I have just had mine fitted (Alu-Clad Triple glazed AuraPlus) and i have to say i really like them now they are on site. One of the things that sold me for them is the hidden trickle vent externally. Fingers crossed they hold up....
Simon R
Windows are certainly a big bit of the budget, like you we went to multiple suppliers and ended up with Velfac who offer a six year guarantee if installed by an approved installer. Our alu clad windows which are three years old and show no signs of ageing. We did find the prices varied crazily and lots of sales people driving round in very nice cars. Take a look at the thread
Roundtuit
We've got Rationel alu-clad 3g windows. On balance, I'm happy with them; timber and cladding seems fine 4+ yrs in. We have had a window mechanism fail however, and are now trying to get a door backset replaced on warranty. I'm disappointed we've had some failures, but they do seem to be honouring the warranty (in mega slow-time, but some of that could be agent)

My windows (not any of your brands, I may add..) the handles are shockingly bad and funnily/not there's a big variation of wobble/play between them all, already been replaced once and they are just the same, I'm in dialogue for a company rep to visit. The cheap **** PVC windows in the office have better handles. The ones I played with in showrooms weren't like that... QC my arse.
