iMCaan Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Hi I know from the Beam and Block plans that DPM needs to be placed under the concrete beams on the ground floor. From YouTube videos I thought DPM is placed on a 10mm mortar bed. However, a subcontractor has suggested you don't have to put 10mm mortar bed under DPM. Is this true? What which be better, with or without the 10mm bed? Thanks
nod Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 It is I simply laid 600 mil dmp around the block Then folded it over the ends of the BB floor and taped it under my firs course of block
Russell griffiths Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 No bed, it wouldn’t be strong enough to take the point load of the beams. Just roll out dpc and put beams on top. 1
Simplysimon Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 your bc allowed you to put beams on the ground! you lucky git. we had 'it's got to have 150mm min below'

Simplysimon Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 so for dpm read dpc? shouldn't need a dpm under a b&b floor unless it's in the solum
iMCaan Posted February 10, 2022 Author Posted February 10, 2022 Thank you all That clears that up. No mortar below DPM on the end of BB. @Simplysimon sorry, I'm not a builder (or a DIYer) so I may wording may have caused the confusion. There's a void below BB Thank you again
