I'm going to have a suspended ceiling below these 2 steels.

So somehow I need to fix plasterboard ( or something ) to them .

How should I fix to the steel though?. I assume a timber batton is what I need. But I can't see drilling the steel to be fun ( also can only bolt from one side not the other ).

Presumably there's a standard method to do this????

TechFast screws are designed to fix light timber frames to steel and will self drill the steel. They take a Torx driver.

Even a girlie DeWalt cordless should be able to put them in ?

We did exactly this and used loads of them. Advice is to pre drill with a 3 or 4 mm bit as it helps these go in really easy

Shotfire timber with Hilti gun.  Cheap to hire.

Have to look that up - but sounds fun; like a firearm - what could possible go wrong!

End is painted black so goto be good! Pre drill makes em perfic. I bought a big multi pack of cheap drill bits from screwfix or toolstation, all different sizes don't last that long but dead cheap and went through steel a fair few times before going blunt. Something like a pack of 100 for not much.

I used those Easy Drive screws to affix 9mm ply to my steel, wall hung Geberit frame. I didn't pre drill from memory.

They are blue !

Also from previous experience. If I buy the cheaper option and struggle everyone will say it’s my fault for buying cheap crap . If I buy the expensive option and I struggle then it’s just me being crap .

if you're drilling steel, and i know you love the firm which comes in a fetching shade of black and yellow, buy their hss drill bits. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154592266014?hash=item23fe6ac71e:g:HoYAAOSwn41hLqWK wouldn't buy their tools but these are superb

Purchased

Now I have EXTREME drill bits and SPECIALIST screws . If I did this for a living I could charge triple just because of that .

“Blue is poo “ Mr. Makitashite ( Japanese I believe )

Erbaur - similar to Fischer Price

Well if I knew you had money to burn ? agree the ones I listed are crap, but I was suprised they drilled well for a half dozen holes then its knackered. And they seemed to come with a shed load of 3 to 5mm sizes which were fine as pilot holes.

Use cutting compound when you drill and you'll at least double the life. A smear on hacksaw

& bandsaw blades helps there too.
