Hiya,

going to see a passive house tomorrow and this is the breakdown...

Internal to External

Plasterboard / Timber cladding
50mm service void
Intello airtight membrane
219mm timber frame infilled with cellulose insulation
10mm OSB
Breather membrane
100mm Kingspan Kooltherm K12
50mm batten and counter batten
Siberian Larch or Cement fibre board cladding

We are building with block and wonder what is the most cost effective choice to achive passive house sort of standard?  Can anyone give me a similar cross section description?

Wet plaster, block, wide cavity with beads or batts, brick, (I don’t like render, needs maintenance).

Cheers, I know you did a 250 cavity, we can only go up to 200. Bit cheeky but you don't have a pic of your batts during the build?

No, my cavity was 200mm, no picture (must be the only thing I didn’t take a photo of) but similar to picture above by @tonyshouse.

How come you can only go to 200mm cavity, founds or footings already in?

Architect is firm on it.

Why? It’s your build!, (unless your founds are already in?).

One thing I’d suggest if following Tony’s example-stagger the joints of the insulation sheets so there’s no chance of a small gap from inside to out.

305mm wide cavity 3x100mm batts, they don’t like sliding over each other, crumple, roll up or leave gaps at the corners.

the brickies put some in which I had to remove and re do as folded! I banned them did every bit myself.
