I think hooks on a base plate are a good idea so the clothes hood or whatever doesn't scuff your paint etc. 

 

Seriously though is there perhaps any feature in the room you'd perhaps like to match? You could enhance standard hooks with a bespoke backplate for instance.

Hallway . So walls and ceiling just white .

Do like @Simon RJohn Lewis one . But if it’s plastic I’d hate it !

It'll likely be plastic coated steel for the frame. The balls plastic or maybe painted wood.

 

That could look quite nice (imho) in stainless steel with black knobs.

The company appear to be closing down. So..... I'm guessing it shouldn't be TOO hard to make my own. I see you can buy the recessed hooks. What wood do we reckon that is???
