Insulated raft foundation - Hampshire

I am really struggling so far to get anywhere in my search for a contractor who can supply + install an insulated raft foundation for our project in Hampshire.

 

I had a contact from Isoquick for a groundworker who uses their product but after a couple of promises for a quote he has now stopped responding to me. 

 

Any recommendations?

do you need a 'special' contractor? insulated foundation systems are very simple to lay so surely any decent groundworker can figure it out. as soon as you start looking for a 'specialist' the price goes up!

 

maybe worth looking for a general groundworker who is recommended and ask them if they're happy to do it. if they can follow a drawing then I'm sure they'll do fine.

As long as the design has been done then insulated raft is the easiest foundation to do.

Just want to express my thanks for the recommendations. I have contacted a couple of companies and also, started looking into whether it's feasible for us to do the work ourselves, then just get a company in to pour and power float the concrete. 

 

@BotusBuild how long would you say it took you start to finish, and did you strip the site and lay the drainage pipes too?

Earlier this year I used a specialist contractor from Suffolk for my reinforced concrete raft foundation if that's any help. Message me if you'd like the details.

Elapsed time - far too long due to Covid-19 ?

We had a local groundworker in who:-

1. Stripped off the topsoil (to be put back at the end)
2. dug the very large hole in which the foundation are now located
3. dug more holes to fit the sewage treatment plant (STP), inspection chambers and drainage pipes (incoming and outgoing from STP)
4. laid and graded the stonework and blinding sand

All in all that probably took about 6-8 weeks, over a period of 12 months, but that was because I want to be involved and was restricted in travelling like everyone else. So, yes, I did lay drainage pipes, install the STP and the under foundation Radon sumps - I just didn't do "heavy machinery" stuff.

 

The laying of the foundation insulation (Jackon Atlas) took my wife and I the four days noted in the pictures in the blog entry.

 

Since then we have spent another 3-4 weeks installing the Radon barrier/DPM, and the reinforcing steelwork. We have  to install the UFH pipes next, then we will contract someone to provide and pour the concrete. We are currently delayed due to non-Covid issues, but hope to be concrete complete by the end of September.
