Chipboard flooring

Tell me what is the reason for the chipboard flooring to have an uneven tongue and groove on it.

It just seams like an over complicated system that each sheet has to be the correct way up.

Why, not a joint so a sheet can be laid either way up and any way around.

Now or I know this is possible as the stuff in oz and America has a removable tongue that you tap in so you don’t have to trim off the tongue if fitting against an edge.

Just seams like an overly complicated system for no reason.

And usually the bottom side there is a small gap at the joint even when fully home, only the top sides does the joint close tight.

What is the problem with laying them the right way up?

Because, if you carry them up a staircase and into a tight room, you then have to spin around in the room to get them oriented the correct way around.

If the tongue was multi directional you could carry in and drop straight down.

If cutting to length outside the room you need to make sure you cut the correct end off.

It just seems that it’s another system that nobody questions, so it’s not been looked at, we just get on with it.

I question everything in life looking for improvement.

I think it's a brand thing.

Caberdek has the tongue on the short side which is opposite to Egger. Means you can't mix and match. Guess how I know ??
