Russell griffiths
Evening all. If installing plastic pipes in a wall is it a requirement to fit a metal trace wire or foil tape, so you can detect their location with a stud detector.
PeterW
No but for the price of a roll of aluminum tape it’s worth it ..!
Temp
Think it might be an nhbc requirement?
Russell griffiths
It is a nhbc requirement as peter said, I suppose for £20 of tape it’s worth doing.
Jenni
Hi. Is the silver foil tape detectable when the pipes are pinned to foil faced pir insulation?
Nickfromwales
Just take pictures before boarding, with a tape held up for reference measurements. Pipes are usually in the centre of the stud void so you'd have to go out of your way to strike one. Prob best to stick the foil tape to the back of the PB instead of onto the pipe. SuperJohnG
Whilst looking for info on installing wiring for a multi room speaker system I came across a thread on the avforums or similar. You can buy NFC tags and stick them on anything and then once you need to find them just use your phone to locate. Seemed like a great idea...
