Jimbouk Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Evening, just discovered the forum... I have recently started a build project in East Devon close to the Exe estuary. A timber frame build, clad in cedar, lots of glazing to a South Westerley aspect, making the most of the view and solar gain, which will hopefully be controlled in the Summer by a 2m roof overhang... For those of you that like time lapse videos I have some footage of work to date at http://www.exe.holiday I fear this forum will encourage project scope creep, I'm now investigating MHRV systems....
Guest Alphonsox Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Welcome to the forum - that looks like a great spot for a build. Lots of MVHR experience in these parts - please post any questions you've got.
Bitpipe Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Welcome - MVHR is a must if your build is airtight and you have windows without trickle vents etc. Above 2 air changes / hour (ACH) it won't work that well from a heat recovery pov but will still deliver fresh air and remove stale air. Do you have any airtightness provision?
Crofter Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 My MVHR quotes have been well under £1k, so it will cost less than my woodburning stove. Worth it for good air quality, IMHO.

Ferdinand Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 IN this area .. Mansfield .. Jewsons specialise. I have about 4 within a few miles, but only one of them has an extensive roofing selection. Not sure what difference that makes to price.
Jimbouk Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Thanks for the welcome! I'll start my mhrv questions in the relevant forum...
