Russell griffiths
Morning i intend having downlights in my External soffit, so as I’m fitting facia and soffits at the moment I need to get some wiring in place first. Is the large area behind my facia classed as safe, and would you run the wire in a conduit or just clip it to the rafters. @ProDave @Onoff
Onoff
For neatness and getting it up out of the way of vermin I'd clip it and just drop down to each position. If ever you decide to add more lights the hole saw might "find" the cable if laid atop the soffit board! Makes if easier adding stuff if not clipped though.
Gone West
I fitted downlights in my soffits and clipped the cable to the rafters.
Oz07
At a similar point @Russell griffiths was going to attempt myself but I don't know how much spare wire sparks will want and what kind of run/route would be preferable. Got him coming out next week to put the cable in for me should only take an hour with scaffold up. My soffit is fixed to underside of 50mm battens, I presume he will run cable ontop of these and leave un clipped. Do you have something like this? Think cables are supposed to be 50mm up off ceilings or things like that @ProDave?
PeterW
Why not put the transformer somewhere like a utility space and run in 12/24v as assuming these will be LED ..?
