joe90
I may have a problem fitting PV panels to my build as they would either need to be on the garage roof or ground array. The incoming meter is in the garage and next to the field but the fuse board is in the house and fed by a 3 core armoured cable (under my new tarmac drive) so I guess connecting a diverter to an immersion in the house won’t be possible? dpmiller
no reason why not, as long as you go for one with a wireless current sender.
PeterW
Doesn’t work like that from memory - diverter just needs to sense there is more being generated than consumed and switches on. As @dpmiller says - need one with a wireless or remote current sensor
Jeremy Harris
I have the same problem. My solution was to design my own PV diverter, with a radio link from the meter box back to the house. This has worked fine for the past five years, but in my drive to remove custom built stuff I've just bought an Apollo Gem diverter, as that comes with the option of a radio link from the power sensing part.
joe90
Ah great guys thanks, watch my other thread on cheap Ebay PV panels as it may be a goer ?
ProDave
There are many solutions. My meters are remote from the house. So when I installed the cabling I laid a spare length of 6 pair armoured BT telephone cable. I use 2 pairs of this to connect the current transformers to the house where my solar PV diverter is. But wireless solutions are possible.

ProDave
Mine is buried in the same trench as the mains cable, both SWA and buried direct not in duct.
SteamyTea
If going for export payments/FiTs, then the meter has to be by the main import meter I seem to remember. It is so that only exports/generation after system losses are metered.
