Hi All, I wonder if anyone came across an alternative to steel beam thermal breaks? Thank you

Not sure if this is the right section, but house construction didn't seem to cover it. so please move to appropriate place if required mods, thanks. After numerous iterations we have nearly finalised on our layout. (See below). It made sense for us to move the master bedroom above the garage to aid the flow of the house and we really like the layout. I had however previously avoided this because I assumed we would have issues with being inside the thermal envelope and air tightness and so forth. It will be a timber frame or SIPS build and I am hoping to achieve high levels of air tightness, is there anything I should be looking at or concerned about with our master being above the garage and obviously the garage will be outside the thermal envelope and not very air tight at all. Will the floor construction need particular attention? . any other thoughts.

I love this simple solar thermal kit that really doesn't look to shabby. Conventional ones are a silly price. https://www.solariskit.com/store

Hello, Can anyone help with the positioning of bifold doors within the thickness of a solid wall aperture please? (i.e. towards the room side, middle or exterior side of the aperture). I can see there are various considerations, although I can't find much advice online for solid walls. I'd like to maximise the internal space in the room if possible, whilst maintaining good thermal properties, rain resistance etc. I've attached a screen grab of my architect's proposal (plan / overhead view). He has the exterior glass of the bifolds inset 225mm from the exterior face of the brick, thus the overall bifolds unit is closer to the room side of the aperture. Note the blue steel column / I-beam immediately adjacent to the frame. I'd like to move the bifolds a little towards the exterior side if possible to maximise the internal room space - I'd appreciate any thoughts anybody might have on the various implications of that please, thermal or otherwise. Thanks.

We are planning to lay bamboo flooring to our ground floor, using the Uniclic system. But I am quite confused re the thermal properties of their recommended underlay. My preference is for their 5.5mm Fibreboard https://www.bambooflooringcompany.com/fibreboard.html which has a thermal conductivity of 0.050W/mK. their other products are Silver Bam with a 0.9 tog and CushNWood with a tog rating of 1. Which of these gives the best thermal insulation? What does 1 tog relate to?? It would help if they used the same measurements. Any help with this will be appreciated.
