  1. Nick what would you regard as a reasonable figure? Taking on board how little the installation company actually expect to have to do for their £8k in my case. Bearing in mind i am in the home counties so expect a little bit of a premium. Having said that we dont all drive bentleys in Hertfordshire.
  2. Forgive me but i thought this was a requirement of the building control in some way, please explain.
  3. I have had a bit of a back and forth e mail conversation with the potential installer. They wont budge on their price and dont want to detail all of the little extra's that are required to install. Therefore they stick by their £8k installation. Still looks to me( ignorant of plumbing intricacies) like a lot of money to drop a pump onto the plinth, connect it and commission/instruct me on its best use.
  4. The second phase, to go from frame erected ( phase one) to weathertight. Its the second phase that is £65k.
  5. Apologies, i dont understand this. Oh and the grant scheme is deffo still active
  6. Plenty of plumbing suppliers have the Grant 10kw listed on their sites at about £6k with a cylinder included. Thats what i used to deduct £6k from the total quote i was given. Leaving the £8k for the install.
  7. 7 days for the ashp/cylinder install ?
  8. Apologies, i may not have explained myself very well. The £65k is only for the weathertight phase. Thats the bit i am questioning here
  9. Quote is for a Grant Aerona and a 300litre cylinder. Take the cost of the hardware out of the mix ( £6k) and it leave £8k to install it. Into a new build. I am required to prepare the concrete base and deliver electrics and water to within 1 metre of the install location so even less for the installers to do. I am struggling to appreciate the value of the installation task. Help me understand please. keith
  10. Hi Guys Todays question. My TF build company have quoted for a frame erect stage, all good. And then an optional second phase to get it to weathertight. This involves roof tiles (machine made clay Redlands) and windows/external doors(Rationel Alu clad DG). With some level of insulation i think. The quote is £65k My house is 200 sq/m. 1 1/2 storey with 6 dormers and a small velux. In Hertfordshire. Does this sound about right ? Thank in advance as always guys
  11. I wish. Our TF 201 SQ/ M, storey and a half, dormered, quote is £130k
  12. I have had two separate attempts to get a quote this week. On both attempts they have replied that there is some parameter that excludes me. Looks like they are not actually up to speed with their marketing department. And that the RED ashp is not rolling off the line as fast as they might hope.
  13. Do You mean the Octopus Pump? Its the RED ' Renewable Energy Devices' pump. Looks quite good actually
  14. I just read that their 'standard' install is <=7.5kw pump and a 200l tank. Also, don't guarantee one of these RED pumps. I wonder what alternative they might want to specify.
  15. So have i. My house has not started build yet so had to get creative with the answers.
  16. datasheet-v5.pdfdatasheet-v5.pdfCool, something to go on thank you. Let the research begin
  17. Does anyone know any more about this. Is it a badge engineered model that we would know by another name?
  18. I think this wide mortar joint idea needs to be canned. It was presented to me as a way to achieve and 'old' look. Too much potential to go wrong.
  19. Who Knew. Just spent an hour reading about spray on window protection for just this subject. Thanks again forum. Every day is a school day.
  20. No sauce with bacon. Sorry but thats the devils work. If you ever feel the need to embelish a bacon sarnie then a fried egg is the perfect partner.
  21. In my case the TF company will build the frame and make it weathertight which will include the glazing. For the rest of the build the TF company engage a contracts manager( well, i do. Its me that pays for him/her) so i guess i am employing the brickies in effect.
  22. Hi nick, No not yet. If there are companies out there that do both halves of this task then i think they are the guys i want to talk to.
  23. Bacon is generally the solution to every problem i find.
