  1. The exported file is a CSV file (Comma separated variable) so easily opened in Excel
  2. I am wondering given the increased costs if people may start to looking at metal framing as a cost effective solution for internal walls (with other benefits)
  3. Just to cavate it, any builders merchants will the publicly available prices, not on account. I want to get a snap shot of a range products rather than going into too much detail. Though it may be interesting to see the same product from a couple of suppliers to see if the changes are consistant. if you can add the URL's of products to the list below, it would make my life easier. https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-General-Purpose-Oriented-Standard-Board-3-OSB-3---18-x-1220-x-2440mm/p/110517 https://www.wickes.co.uk/Blue-Circle-General-Purpose-Cement---25kg/p/224661 https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Studwork-CLS-Timber---38-x-89-x-2400mm/p/107713 https://www.diy.com/departments/osb-3-board-l-2-44m-w-1-22m-t-18mm/1696229_BQ.prd
  4. Following on from the thread on timber frame price increases, i have made a simple python code to scrape prices from consumer websites to track how outlet prices may go up or down. My plan is to run the code automatically daily to scrape prices from websites and save them to an excel file for select products, which can be tracked over time. A sample of the data input CSV file is below; Item Store Description Website 1 Wickes 18mm 2440 x 1220 OSB https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-General-Purpose-Oriented-Standard-Board-3-OSB-3---18-x-1220-x-2440mm/p/110517 2 Wickes Blue Circle General Purpose Cement - 25kg https://www.wickes.co.uk/Blue-Circle-General-Purpose-Cement---25kg/p/224661 3 Wickes Studwork CLS Timber - 38 X 89 X 2400mm https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Studwork-CLS-Timber---38-x-89-x-2400mm/p/107713 4 B&Q 18mm 2440 x 1220 OSB https://www.diy.com/departments/osb-3-board-l-2-44m-w-1-22m-t-18mm/1696229_BQ.prd A sample of the data output is below, which will be amended on a daily basis; Wickes Wickes Wickes B&Q 18mm 2440 x 1220 OSB Blue Circle General Purpose Cement - 25kg Studwork CLS Timber - 38 X 89 X 2400mm 18mm 2440 x 1220 OSB 07/07/2021 10:16 £45.00 £4.15 £10.45 £39.00 07/07/2021 10:18 £45.00 £4.15 £10.45 £39.00 07/07/2021 10:22 £45.00 £4.15 £10.45 £39.00 The question is what sort of products / stores I should be including to get a good spread of different goods, such as the consumer price inflation basket of goods and services, but for construction. Any suggestions?
  5. Get a b&q trade point account, you can get 10 at a time, and for.me cheaper than LBM
  6. It's like this, after the header row, a row for each product. Item, Store, Description, Website 1, Wickes, 18mm OSB, https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-General-Purpose-Oriented-Standard-Board-3-OSB-3---18-x-1220-x-2440mm/p/110517 The code still needs work, especially to export the prices to a csv file, with rows of date checked and prices scraped.
  7. here is my attempt this reads in a csv file with the products, the store and the web address, looks them up scraps the price data off and displays them. It gives me this output I need to get it working for B&Q and any other shop that want to add, next task is to save the prices to a CSV, that is appended from the last time the program was run.
  8. i might actually write a python script to webscrap the price changes over times (though i can't go back)
  9. Whatever it is, most beam designers specify the block to have 3.6N transverse loading strength
  10. I was supposed to have two ground workers on site on Friday to put up the retaining wall mesh. They were a no show and had to get it up myself, for the brickies to come back on monday to do some of the inner skin of the retaining wall, to be filled later in the week (4 courses) Lugging 80kg sheets of mesh about and vertical was interesting ?. Thankfully the brickies I am using seem decent and reliable.
  11. This is what is on the drawings.
  12. I need a couple windposts in my build, I have never come across them before. From my googling they don't seem an off the peg purchase. Anyone got any ideas where I can get them and typical costs?
  13. Two of them, 3m and 3.6m. I wonder if you use a 89mm wide UB, recessed slightly then the render board could go flush with the block work
  14. Does anyone know how the RSJ's are arranged for over a bi-fold, is it two separate RSJ's? How would you render onto the outer RSJ?
  15. Its a tight space, as below due to the steps not shown in the previous image, though a 920mm SO may work if i shift the stairs a little bit.
  16. I have a door from an internal space to a integral garage that is in block work as below, this is how it is shown on my BR drawings, but i want to make sure that this structural opening in enough for the 762mm door. Does anyone have a example of the detail of this type of door, i presume its need a cavity closer in it too. around the perimeter that the opening will need to account for.
  17. That's a big house, it doesn't seem too far fetched.
  18. @craig thanks for your insights as i am trying to sort out my windows installation, i am probably going to use the ME508.
  19. Source? I am sure there will be a while until it trickles down
  20. You are just up the road from @BotusBuild
  21. First off congrats on getting planning and starting off. That demolition cost seem heavy, I would be tempted to do what you are doing strip what you can, get someone in to do the asbestos out and get a digger in to flatten it. I am in Devon and may have a few names for timber frame and off details, though we have gone for a conventional build, with 150mm cavity external walls Edit: my money is you are in east devon AONB
  22. Thanks, it's a big weight off my mind now it's done. Appreciate your informed help massively!
  23. Slab laid, 120 slump, though the gw was complaining it was going off too quickly
  24. speaking to a ground worker, he reckons he has projects lined up and very busy for the next 4 years!
