She is - and she was rubbish. Remember the balcony that needed sky hooks

What happens to the sewerage if I did that?
-
Sorry - I wasn't very clear I already have the pump in place as that is the way we were going. Architects marked it straight into the brick chamber. That is what the water board won't have. they want it going to a chamber and then gravity feed to the pipe or the chamber I'm not sure which. @Mr Punter is what I was looking at doing - I have drawn something very similar. Bb doesn't think that works but I can't see why not.

Does anyone know anything about connecting to the sewers. I can't get a gravity feed as the chamber is under next doors garage so have opted for a pump We were intending to pump up and straight into a brick built chamber that is just within my garden but the water authorities have said no, it has to be a gravity feed - but there isn't anywhere high enough to put a chamber that can gravity feed into the pipe anywhere on the property. There has to be a solution surely Attached plan shows layout High Croft Bungalow b regs-005M.pdf

Just how fast were you going?

When I had a patch gravelled a few years ago there were 2 distinct areas, covered with 2 distinct types of loose stone. As well as local weeks popping up in both areas I got different distinct weeds growing in each area. Persistent sycamore in one, took three years of weeding before they mostly stopped. There are no sycamore anywhere near here and they only grew in the cotswold stone area. (I'm in Yorkshire). The weeds growing in the pea gravel were locally grown weeds - that didn't occur in the Cotswold stone

When I started reading this I thought 'but mine is the Gatekeeper's Lodge' I read a bit further and realised that you knew that too

Brick barbeque, step to back door until (or even unless) I get my drive sorted. Brick table near to where the boot of my car will be, to unload shopping screen for bins a compost heap Eeerrrrr! Eeerrrrrr! Not that any of those are likely to happen but you did say 'could'

Fabulous. Well done

Looking good

I.m not sure about that as a rule overall, but having a gable there reduced the impact on the view from the existing bungalow and the one next door so that may have been taken into consideration. It also matches the gable of the house in the last photo which is side facing. This new house is set into the corner of a cul de sac so the gable doesn't face the road. Any (or none) of those could have been taken into consideration. I guess there is less impact with it being single storey too.

This week - knowing there was less than £3k for me to pay to get to the agreed endpoint. I have been incredibly impressed with how BB and crew have pulled out all the stops to meet their commitments. I'm struggling not to feel guilty - but there have been many weeks when I have paid day rate x 20 (4 men 5 days) for what has amounted to be 2 men 2 - 3 days actual work. (bearing in mind my lounge looks out over the building site and I have a good idea how much time was spent on phones and or just standing around chatting) I have had a minimum of 5 workers here every day. 8 until 6 Monday to Wednesday. 7 - 6 Thursday, 6 - 6.30 Friday and 6 - 6.30 today. I did make them bacon butties this morning and pizza this evening - Oh and I gave them beer last night. BB is coming back next week to add a couple of cavity closures. He has left me a pallet of bricks for my retaining wall, and spares of nearly everything else. For now, I have a nearly clear site, and a finished shell. Next stop soffits fascias etc and then doors and windows

This week I was left owing under £3k I have had a minimum of 5 workers here every day. 8 until 6 Monday to Wednesday. 7 - 6 Thursday, 6 - 6.30 Friday and 6 - 6.30 today. Made them bacon butties this morning and Pizza this evening. Half this effort a few weeks ago and we wouldn't have been in this situation. Scaffolding down and relatively clear site

I'm fine to leave it - he isn't - he's already done it a couple of times

He just said an acid wash. Looking online at a few it seems that hydrochloric acid is what is used. He uses it in a power washer

+1

Check all - except not sure what CPC is. I do also have a local builder's merchant 5 minutes and and fabulous Indian Restaurant/Take away about 3 minutes away

I can confirm BuildHub SOS is alive and running. Not everything gets posted on the forum. I am eternally grateful for the support I am getting both on and off forum
-
It was all cleaned off last week and has come back. Builder has said he will clean it off again before he goes but says it probably will come back
-
Mmm - they only covered up if bad frost was forecast. The open cavities, filled with rockwall were rained on and snowed on so I would definitely say the cavity got wet. Can anything be done or do I just have to wait
-
I hope so it looks horrible. The side facing this house isn't so bad, it faces North. The bad one faces south - is that part of the reason
-
My bricks have horrible efflorescence, The builder has cleaned it off a few times but it keeps coming back - and of course he isn't going to be here anymore after this week. Will it get better on it's own or am I stuck with this horrible looking wall.
-
He is out once the roof is done. We have agreed to go our different ways
-
I've got to give the builder his due. He has thrown everything at it this week with one finishing the back gable and boundary wall and 3 working on the roof. Tensions have educed since we have agreed what will be done and how much I will pay. I think they've worked harder this week than any week since the beginning.

If I'd found this forum earlier I would have been wiser too. We just have to be so thankful we found it when we did. I can't imagine where I would be now without it. All the support both practical and emotional means so much 'Thanks' just isn't enough
