Now that sounds like a good deal Hopefully getting the slates started on Monday so will be thinking about the indoor work soon enough. Doing it before the windows is likely a very good idea.

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the cost for wall chasing? Also is it a DIY job? I can get a HILTI wall chaser for 2 weeks for about £60? Thanks Damian

going by the quotes i got. I would say In Northern Ireland its about 10% possibly more elsewhere. And they are also making a margin on the goods they supply as they have large discounts from suppliers but charging you full price. Eg a developer i know has a 35% discount on all plumbing goods but charges clients RRP.

Yeah, Id be looking the chipped doors replaced or re-sprayed to make sure they look 100% On the Utility, they may not need to rip the lot out could add a smaller carcass unit above. If they aren't doing that and you have paid for the larger carcass and more importantly the larger doors (which are much more expensive) id be looking to knock a few quid off. Corner unit should be no issue.

My sister has tiles upstairs in the hallway as she has an "Upside Down" house - Living room/kitchen upstairs. She had no issues and there is UFH upstairs also. Just getting the detail right at the top of the stairs. But it looks well

Thats were i'm drawn towards at the moment. I will be having PV, stove with boiler and then everything else with E7 May get a small ASHP down the line but not sure, i'll see how the bills look.

They told my brother the same thing, and i was very suspicious so i read the terms and conditions and they state that you can switch supplier without any penalty but if you move away from gas they will remove the tank as it remains their property and you will be charged the full costs to de-commission and remove the tank.

This is our main reason for not considering Gas. There is no chance of mains gas ever coming to our site. And if you change from Gas to Oil of ASHP then you have to pay the full costs to get the tank de-commissioned and removed. I'm pretty sure they would be very punishing on the costs for this.

I'm limited to a 4kw system. The electricity board in NI dont like bigger systems and even if you just wanted to increase up to a 6kw system you would have to pay for a full commercial feasibility study (Or so our NIE guy told us) he said it would never be financially viable unless you were going for a full commercial venture. We have loads of roof space so its a real pity. Not sure if i could get an extra off-grid system down the line? As i will be using an immersun type device i don't think there should be any issue as i wont be exporting to the grid.

Hi guys I'm looking at 2 solar panel suppliers and wondering what the general consensus is on which is better. More lower power panels or less higher power panels. So the option is 14 or 16 panels. I think they are 250w and 280w respectively but not 100% sure. Obviously they both think theirs are the best and the others are dort! Thanks D

My mother keeps saying my wife should get to pick the kitchen as she will be the one who spends most time in it. Even though i do 90% of the cooking. But we are going for a more traditional look i think. Painted In-frame, main kitchen in cream and the island will be a light grey. Black worktops. I'm thinking of 40mm granite but i haven't got prices yet. As my father is doing the kitchen, the granite will likely be the most expensive part.

In the immortal words of my Brother in Law. "Top Drawer" I don't like the look of it. If it hadn't been my Da who put the kitchen in they wouldn't have been able to afford any granite.
-
My sister went to total opposite direction. She has 70mm granite, so its effectively 2 35mm sheets, the bottom isn't the full way back just the first few inches to save money. I think thinner would be better. Looks much sleeker.

Aye, its the wooden door I think. I had asked him about the composite but they dont do them in that style.

Hi Guys, We are trying to decide the colours for our windows and doors. Need some advice or Pictures. So we are wanting to go for black windows, and a black front door. We will have silver quartzite stone and a grey render with granite chips. So the question is regarding the door surround. I prefer a cream surround but my wife prefers a black surround to match the windows. I'll put up a few pictures so you can see what i mean. Thanks Damian

I got a letter saying that they couldn't give approval as they required additional details. There was a disclaimer stating that if we started to build without approval there was a chance that we would have to redo certain things etc. But I found the BC inspector very helpful and he has given up guidance on any issues that I was concerned about. But yeah, you can build away without final approval as long as your BC is inspecting regularly and flagging any potential issues. But given the Building regs I don't think you'll have any issues.

Been told there's a problem with where to put my knob
DeeJunFan replied to slidersx200's topic in Doors & Door Frames
My sister has the round knobs in her house and i find it really annoying. she claims to never notice it, but my fingers get pinched everytime i try to open a door.
