Yes . It’s very hard from photos etc to tell if they’ve got the height of the diverter correct relative to the butt top . Gutter mate seems easier . Because the flexi pipe inlet can be placed with out great accuracy. The gutter mate fitting ( on the down pipe ) is the critical point I.e level with butt top .

Rental . Smoke alarms are interlinked and have no control panel . Honeywell control panel is just for the 4 call points ( still want to call them break glass ) . Randomly it will show a fault on one . Panel beeps to alert you . Enter code , cancel beep , then reset panel and ‘fault’ disappears There are only 3 components here ; panel , all the call points , the wiring . I’ve been told a ‘load resistor’ can be put across the call points to prevent it showing a fault . The supposed call point that fails appears to be random also . This resistor doesn’t sound particularly appealing to me . This ok though ? . Panel can go weeks or even months with no issues . My only other solution was new panel and call points . Then if still errors must be the wiring .

Some of these diverters come with a flexible pipe to the tank . The photos suggest the down pipe fitting is higher than the inlet into the tank . So it will fill ok with rain . But I see quite a few comments relating to tank overflowing when full rather than back into diverter and into down pipe . Just seems a bit unclear which systems work ( assuming installed correctly of course ! )

So you get these things that connect to your down pipe to fill a water butt . Unless you add a seperate overflow it would seem the tank will overflow once full . I guess if you get the height / level exact it will fill on rain and not overflow when full . Seems a bit hit / miss . What about a diverter from the down pipe and an overflow back into the same down pipe ?

I did Uncle Nick.! PV, battery, then more PV and another battery. With my EV ( admittedly low annual mileage ) my ROI is around 6 years from when first installed. If we have a stellar sunny summer I reckon I won't be far off break even this year.

I originally was going down the route of rwh . Even got a non return valve put in at the request of Bristol water . Guy came out and actually told me it probably wasn’t worth it ; his reasoning : maintenance / replacement pump suggested not using it for toilets as can stain ( so some chemical agent needed adding to the stored water ) So use for what ? Watering the garden ? - that’s about it . With the purchase costs of a tank etc I just couldn’t get any sensible roi . So dropped the idea . As our water is metered it is relatively expensive , but even if I did install and used for garden , toilets , washing machine - I think savings would be minimal.

I was reading about someone that bought a Lora based sensor and didn’t know they needed the hub . Been working by magic apparently for years ; not on their WiFi or Bluetooth or anything else . Recently found out it had connected to a Lora hub 5 streets away 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah ; it gets used rarely in winter . But I ordered anyway ( peace of mind ) Then it’s also another “ job “ to fix it ( 10 second jobs can turn into half a day for sure ! )
