  1. Oh yes ! PIR nice to Nick !
  2. Water company forced me to install one outside because we are having rain water harvesting again as said to avoid contamination into the mains
  3. Guys ! Remember if you are struggling to get enough depth in PIR there is always vacuum insulation - but at a high cost of course ! . Just a thought
  4. 150 ? Oh ! I thought they’d be the same as the ducting I.e 75mm Wall then - going to be tricky getting them in a TF and ( as my trusses are high ) in the wall section ?
  5. More thoughts ... The in/out air pipes . I want to mount them on the external wall as roof would be a pita . Is it not unreasonable to cut out a slot in the insulation between the rafters and run the pipe either down into the cavity wall or to the eaves ? ( assuming it will fit )
  6. Because sometimes you DO notice something which may justify the price difference . Between just about any MVHR system costing 600 quid and another twice the cost it’s hard to tell . That’s why I did the post ; too see if anyone jumped in with a valid reason to choose one over the other .
  7. Yeah I know - it’s hard to see the difference in spec for the price .....
  8. Ok , so a platform attached to the rafters , is that what you mean ? So no load on the chipboard t&g ???
  9. Lol insulation was a mission ! Not 1 truss the same distance apart . Which actually brings me to my next question how do I board with these trusses getting in the way ? - going to be a pig ?
  10. Right ! I’m starting to think about where my mvhr , header tank etc are going to go in my limited loft space . I was going to board with T&G directly onto the joists . So then I’ve got a platform for me and the stuff . Assume this is ok . Was also at this point planning where I should fit the loft ladder . Just thinking about access to mvhr for filter changes and header tank if there are any issues .
  11. Yeah I looked at their website . Was interested in what everyone else used and naming convention; I was thinking ... e.g -1/Bedf/light1 so -1 is floor ( -1 below ground for me ?) , Bedf - bedroom front , then of course light1
  12. Presumably I buy a little blow torch to shrink them ?
  13. Yeah I was just worried about rubbing off , label being torn or ( most probably ) being unable to read my own writing!! Might punt on one from a company with a returns policy . Something tells me i’ll Be labelling a lot of things . I reckon i’ll have at least 60 cat6 cables - that’s ignoring all the things I haven’t thought of yet !
  14. Well here’s the reply ..... doesn’t seem to address dryness of air hope this information explains things A Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) system is an energy recovery ventilation system that uses an air-to-air heat exchanger that recovers heat that is usually wasted. It works by supply and extracting airflows in and out of homes and buildings to ensure a better indoor air quality. Heat recovery units can recover up to 90% of normally lost heat depending on the unit and the application. A MVHR system works independently from a heating system and due to the heat recovery feature, it can have great savings on your energy bills. A MVHR system works to eliminate condensation and mould within a building by constantly ventilating a property. By eliminating condensation, it also eliminates the risk of damage to the structure of a building and stops the build up of mould and damp. MVHR systems are suitable for small residential products to large commercial projects.

  17. My next question would be what numbering/lettering systems do people use to avoid f’ups later on ! ??
  18. Need to start thinking how I’m going to label my trillions of cat 6 cables . Need a reliable way - not stickers . Been looking at https://www.fs.com/uk/products/23298.html or https://cpc.farnell.com/hellermanntyton/w3-270-cc/cable-marker-cc-snap-on-500-box/dp/CB18314?mckv=sgFjgsKVa_dm|pcrid|224645119674|kword||match||plid||slid||product|CB18314|pgrid|52698577371|ptaid|pla-583456645642|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjtKZ2M-R4wIVRxDTCh2-ugV1EAQYASABEgJCa_D_BwE This the right way to go ? . Expensive for plastic numbers ! But hey ho !
  19. Surely the incoming ( outside air ) is ok as in not dry ?
  20. ? i’ll Send them an email and find out !
  21. Ok , why don’t the mvhr companies push this ??? . Just wondering as they don’t seem to mention it ....
  22. Now I’m confused ! I thought mvhr took the stale air and moisture out - used the heat for incoming . Why cycle the moisture back into the house ?
  23. I’m still not sure even what this is and the benefits....
