  1. @Thorfun A question regarding windows VM When windows crash ( blue screen of death ) does this in anyway effect the rest of the nas ? . How do you ‘reboot’ the dead windows vm ?
  2. They are expensive for what they are . But takes 2 mins to install . They have a collar that surrounds them which I’ve yet to install . Joints on the board have some special mix you use . Boards are described as water resistant rather than water proof . Still if the water has got past your tiles / grout / Mastik you’re in trouble anyway .
  3. I know ! I kind of like things running independently so when one thing dies nothing else really get affected. Nas file server with Cctv security spy for ‘better’ Cctv HA on something else Whole house audio on something else etc. Etc . Raspberry pi my personal fav though . You can get an 8gb one now !
  4. Thinking of switching from Mac indigo home automation ( as no one likes me ) to HomeSeer . HomeSeer now also runs on a raspberry pi but the client designer software ( to make it look pretty ) is Windows only . So I need to decide because the costing for raspberry pi and pc HomeSeer are different . Also if I must have the designer I need a pc anyway .
  5. Yeah I’m in 2 minds . Get a crap pc for it or not . Don’t want access to be a dog Hmmmmm
  6. Though looking on eBay can get a low spec windows 10 laptop for £99 !!
  7. @Thorfun Running windows in vm ok ? I might have no choice but to run a Windows app I need . Rather than buy a cheap pc , wondering if I could use the nas vm ? Whats a virtual windows license cost these days ??
  8. I installed an Eclisse . It was a mare with 10 different instructions! . But the quality overall was really good . Our glass pocket door weighed 45kg so was a bit of a dog on my own .
  9. Ah ! In that case there is a loo right at the end of the black soil . It runs straight into the end though . I’ll get a photo tomorrow. So regarding the 2nd fixing further down - would it be wise for the main bathroom sink / bath to connect before the bathroom loo. ?
  10. No chance ! Soil pipe has been fixed and glued by God himself . Will not move ! Those boss straps not high enough ? Problem is also that the ceiling is quite busy and getting the white waste T higher becomes an issue .
  11. Can move this one along a bit to allow the boss strap to be fitted easier . This one only has a slight fall but boss strap higher up main pipe . This is the bathroom sink and bath waste ( join together under the floor above ) .
  12. What do you mean ? A nice angle when the toilets flushed ? . Probably 35 degrees I’d say .
  13. Yeah the problem is cutting the hole into the pipe - can’t get my drill in there . I can move it further along the black pipe as it falls - more chance of the branch being higher but white pipe run gets longer .
  14. Before I commit ! ( glue and forget ) The white pipe is the ensuite sink waste . This arrangement ok ? . There is a fall on the pipe . Secondly . This is the bathroom sink waste . Due to ‘technical problems’ I.e f up ;am I ok to connect the bath waste straight into this ? . There will be no access to this once done .
  15. It was approx 18m x 8m 1100 tons of rock . I don’t know your ground structure but yes getting the hole dug and taken away as a seperate job would be cheaper . Then you can choose another firm for ring beam / slab / retaining walls etc . I had to dig my hole right next to a public lane - so that required the Lane always being open . My initial instinct was pile driving along that side - 22 piles at £1100 each !!! . So I found another substantially cheaper method .
  16. He’s got his ppe !
  17. Ceilings being skimmed this week . I wanted to finally unwrap the Wagner to spray them . I did want to use moisture resistant bathroom paint for the ceilings . Any suggestions on a brand ? . Also I know I need to dilute for the initial few passes to seal the plaster . That not a problem with “bathroom” paint as opposed to standard emulsion ?
  18. That price seems WAY to high ! I got 20 quotes ( just to excavate and take away ) they ranged from 7k ( way too cheap ! ) to 100k !!!
  19. Ordered! I'll stick one in and let you know what happens. The rest are yours if you like! Appreciated! ?
  20. Simple as that ? . Will stop me shorting the transformer ? The doorbell is ( naturally ) outside so I couldn’t see the transformer as I pushed it I.e watch it’s led have an epileptic seizure . @ProDave yeah ? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sourcingmap-US-SA-AJD-68313-30Pieces-Tolerance-Resistors/dp/B00SWK3DMM/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=resistor+75+ohm+2+watt&qid=1590422581&quartzVehicle=72-1783&replacementKeywords=resistor+75+ohm+watt&sr=8-3
  21. F u c k o f f a n d g r o u t s o m e t h I n g ! ??
  22. It says power consumption less than 1 watt
  23. At least door LEDs on/off with automation were easy thanks to this
  24. I’d have to check that . It’s only a crappy led !
  25. Why do I think when it’s reversed it should read 0 ? Because I don’t understand ? If it’s shorting out the psu then that explains why I need 2 ? So it’s a fudged work around ! . Essentially as the psu has some short protection is the only thing making it ‘work’ . Sensor max in voltage is 24dc I think . So a resistor on the 12v + psu is all I need ? ( then I can run off 1 psu ? ) . Erm , by what magic do I compute what resistor value I need ?? ??
