  1. Boxing it in soon . Yes ! There will be an access hatch . Yes the timber frame etc. will be 60mm away from flue . Be down soon Mom ...
  2. Yeah but you posted that on Feb 9th ?. I never read back through a thread ?
  3. Ok . So I can cut the celotex back to allow 60mm gap . Do I then fill the gap with Earth wool - I assume it’s non combustible
  4. Do I pack the hole through the ceiling with Earth wool ?
  5. Bollocdroid
  6. Do Welsh cottages have dodgy steps into a loft ?
  7. Yeah but on my phone I’m not zooming in to the page numbers . So it’s just scaled to my screen . ???
  8. I think the concertina steps will do . You can adjust the angle of the incline so that solves the issue of a ‘narrow’ hall . Also they look really sturdy and strong ???
  9. I saw that . It’s page 14 for me ! ?
  10. I’ll order up a cheap hatch / ladder to go between the trusses . Stay tuned !
  11. You should know that . Why build above ground when you can build underground Why have a simple doorbell when you can automate and create more work Why have a hatch and a set of steps when you can cut trusses Why? - If it was easy everyone would do it ?
  12. ? I’m not happy on steps . I need a hatch for access . Also it means I need a set of steps somewhere . Hatch with ladder built in seemed a more elegant solution . Also I wanted to make more work for myself .
  13. Yeah I’ve got that document; there is no page 26 ?
  14. I’m still scared . I have a very shallow warm ‘loft ‘ - no point boarding ; can’t get in there .
  15. @joe90 well the supplier didn’t seem to know ( can’t find a direct number for Oman. ) . So joe ! - if your ladder was fully extended ( let’s say 2.3m ) how far do the ladder legs touching the floor extend beyond the base of the hatch ?
  16. @joe90 the mini termo seems decent I.e small and avoids cutting trusses . Just can’t work out how much the fully extended ladder extends beyond the box . Think I’ll call them
  17. Crumbs ! That looks very decent for the money . I said ‘joists’ I meant trusses . Span is around 7metres . I would only need to cut one . My drawings are crap as you know - so here’s a useless photo instead
  18. Guys ! I should of pointed out the loft won’t be for storage . Just access to the AAV and some electrics . So I won’t be going up and down it all the time .
  19. So it’s perfect !
  20. Seems *too* cheap ? Looks like the steps don’t go much wider than the hatch .... could mount in between trusses ?? https://www.laddersandscaffoldtowers.co.uk/acatalog/Concertina-Loft-Ladders.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8ciF3Mn16QIVhrHtCh1MuwvNEAQYCSABEgIQ-vD_BwE
  21. True . I can imagine the thread “Pocster’s dead - what do I get ? “ . Hundreds and hundreds of pages .
  22. Should I prepare my will just in case ? Who wants to be left some glazing ?
  23. Walk on glazing has many , many uses as you’ve implied . This though would be an inappropriate use of it .
  24. Think I might bolt across it all . Stick a photo up here BEFORE I cut . It would be deeply upsetting if I’m crushed in my own house .
  25. I use a very specific CAD program - it came free with some walk on glazing . I think I only need to cut 1 . The joists do indeed run straight across the width of the mansion .
