Saniflo alarm not adequate
Pocster replied to Pocster's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
So I’m going to use a standard phone charger to a usb step down I.e to 3v . Wire it into a zigbee door sensor . Then wire dry contacts from reed switch to alarm panel . This should get reliable HA in event of the alarm . Its just the pressure sensor - might take a punt . -
Saniflo alarm not adequate

The saniflo has a pressure switch . You drill a hole in the top of the saniflo , place a plastic tube it it . The saniflo then sits ontop the unit with the pressure switch in the head of the tube . -
Saniflo alarm not adequate

Maybe this alarm box ? https://www.tritoncontrols.co.uk/alarms-and-controls/basic-alarm-easyfit.html?ppc_keyword=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=12120096619&gbraid=0AAAAACdOt02h4JZ2Q8Pdc71YfcucXK6V4&gclid=CjwKCAjw1dLDBhBoEiwAQNRiQThOWqB0p_yPqPWb-ZbaDP_56QCHJGeU_7bjHp0DB25wdPJVVM12UBoC-98QAvD_BwE But a suitable pressure sensor switch seems to be a bit of a minefield of possibilities -
So this crap battery powered high water alarm worries me . Just tested it , batteries apparently flat even though replaced only 3 weeks ago . Not much faith in this . Could be flat and I wouldn’t know until kitchen flooded So want a pressure switch that links to a mains powered but battery backup unit . Unit has a light to indicate it’s actually on and also possibility to trigger a zigbee relay so can notify HA Most of these alarms operate on a float which I don’t want . Pressure switches seem to be industrial or maybe a washing machine type pressure switch ??? Any solid suggestions on a pressure switch , alarm box that will work together suitably appreciated

I find ice cold beer also helps .

This is something I didn’t consider at the time - as there was no perceived need . Now though I would suggest it . Like everyone our ‘ground floor’ gets very hot especially as lots of glass facing south . Below ground always 3 degrees cooler . I just put fans in bedrooms - appreciate they don’t cool the air - but it’s acceptable. If these type of summers persist then simply portable ac in each room ( not the true vented ones though )

Heating and cooling automation on the cheap

Undoubtedly! . But it was cheaper than a Shelly and zigbee thermometer. The fact it works for £17 is where I’m happy 😃 -

10A per plug I.e 10A for heating and 10A for cooling -
Quite possibly . Certainly taking ‘standard ‘ stereo music and upmixing it to dts / aura / x ( whatever ) can either make it sound a muddled mess or turn it into a stage performance with you on the stage

Haven’t yet bothered with ceiling back boxes . I find Atmos speakers aren’t ‘obvious’ when they are used - as they are meant to be ambient . Was watching some Netflix crap which is atmos ; mainly dialogue not an ‘action’ movie - so in a way a bit pointless for Atmos . Anyway a particular scene happened where the talking characters walk outside to a thunder storm and rain. It sounded fantastic - could hear the rain coming from the ceiling ( yes @Onoff just like my house leaking ) .

A few weeks ago I noticed my IT cupboard getting rather warm . So logically thought I’d be installing a fan in there and maybe a Shelly and zigbee temp sensor . Not a fan of Shelly based on my experience. Anyway link it all up to HA , easy !! Then I can across this - which I got on eBay for £17 . Chatgpt suggested this device which I’ve not heard of before ; inkbird ( funny name for a temp control unit ) It’s awesome ! . Dual plug outlets so one for a heating device and one for cooling . Temp sensor on a long flex . I think my expectation was “ typical Chinese shite “ - but it’s a cheaper solution not relying on HA . I use to trigger my fan

Top of the class for me .

I think no one’s going to buy a house based on its epc being good . But ! More people are becoming aware of increasing costs of running a house . So at the end of the day a property with an A+ rating is a selling point . More buyers will be concerned about running costs and ethics . Another selling point can only ever be a bonus -
