Should I have a storm lightning conductor fitted?

Ah yes the sacrificial tree.....lightning hits that, tree explodes and destroys house in a deluge of charred timber shrapnel and molten tree sap! -
I want to make a brick. How hard can it be?

Spray that mould with some release agent and fill with expanding foam. Done by tea time. Get it stuck in place before she sees it. It'll be March 14th! -

I wonder if a traditional build with masses of copper plumbing in the loft and an incoming steel main is a double edged sword in the event of a lightning strike. You could argue it could help earth some of the "strike" but at the same time could it encourage the strike? -
RS still do Tufnol sheets, rods etc I'm sure.

Too late, someone's taken your crown! Seriously, "both sides"? Surely just between back of the pan and face of tiles? -
On the positive side I know a lad who had "a foot" of bowel removed, had a bag for a while then everything reconnected and is as good as new and I think 6 years clear now. He's also suffered lung and a muscle tumour. The oddity is he's lucky, his cancers being localised and solid. Believed to be caused by chemicals used in photographic processing years back. He was a professional photographer.

Bet you're bricking it..... -
All joking aside we just lost a relative to bowel cancer before Xmas. Then last month my two best mates (twins) went for their screening. One had a 6mm polyp removed and has the all clear from the biopsy. He was allowed to watch it being done on screen. The others was 26mm and at the "next stage". Removed and waiting for the results. I've had the all clear 7 times now but keep going back for a "second opinion"......and back to the jokes!

Try 0.8 for TN-S? -
Happy enough with my VCL efforts that it's NOT coming out! As the house won't be coming down I might have at least convinced her on EWI.

Looks like I'll be using a couple of sheets of the 900x1200, 12mm Aquapanel I got for the wet room corner then! -

A bit of an aside but related: The closest I feel I've ever come to "buying the farm" is a few years back working on my own in a terraced house with a TN-S earth system. I was tidying up a ring circuit, replacing faceplates, changing to 2G ones etc. I'd pulled the fuse carrier, switched off the DP switch at the cu and checked for dead. Kneeling in front of an upstairs socket I had the two legs of the ring sticking out and the faceplate off. There was the biggest electrical storm ever going on overhead. The property btw was on a hill. All of a sudden there was an enormous clap of thunder that shook the house and windows and I mean really moved things. Openly admit I was very, very on edge. Now for this I've come in for some ridicule in the past but I know what I saw. A bright blue spark came out of the socket I was working on and extended into the room by about a foot. I'd just stopped touching the legs and was rummaging in my tool bag. I can only assume whatever came in on the earth? (Let the pisstaking begin!) -

This is a whole different fork of "electrics" and outside the scope of 7671 tbh. Makes interesting reading here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-magazine-monitor-28403025 & https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www-public.tnb.com/eel/docs/furse/BS_EN_IEC_62305_standard_series.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwjPv5zQzpbSAhXLA8AKHUT4DfYQFghhMAg&usg=AFQjCNHH7jKD1pk1Dj__JJGUwd3QiZHSKA My thoughts are I'd seriously consider it (and surge protection) if I'd just built an isolated, bespoke house. That's a lot of hard work and money to replace. Off the top of my head where is "the path to earth" on some of these fancy roof flashings? Take a leaf out the churches or listed building's book maybe. -
Forgot to say how incredible his Venetian plasterwork looks!

If doing this from scratch would it be best to perhaps introduce a noggin above the Geberit frame then moisture resistant plasterboard above and marine ply the entire area over the frame below? I'm not planning on plastering rather tiling the whole wall straight onto the ply / plasterboard. P.S. I've got a nice set of hole saws! -
Just a post to say a big thanks to @PeterStarck for his assistance and hospitality today. Peter pm'd me ref my ongoing bathroom saga offering a couple of pan connector spares he had that might help me out. I picked them up today combining a visit to a nearby wildlife park with my youngest. Peter and his wife were kind enough to show my wife, daughter and I around his fantastic build. I knew what it was but had never been inside a Passivhaus. I know I'm probably preaching to the converted but it just felt warm, secure and draught free.....something I'm not used to! Impressive views too through the triple glazing (it's in a lovely location). Add to that the fantastic build quality and that Peter's done the bulk of the work himself and it's even more impressive. Just hoping my missus will take something from it and come round to an appreciation of why I'm always on about insulation, heat loss and trying to do things "right". Once again a very big thanks.

MK went IMO through a "bad" phase particularly with terminal screws shearing easily but seems to be fixed now. Have a look at Click from Scolmore. Various ranges; Click Mode if you want regular white. Click Deco if you go fancy/shiny. MiniGrid if you want.....well grid switches Hager Sollysta are quality too. Varilight are another to consider. But back to MK. I would recommend them all day long as "the" go to. You can get them anywhere for a start. Just bought some as straight replacements myself. Order yourself a free TLC catalogue, it's really well laid out with pretty pictures of a good few makes: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/tcl/catalogue-requests/new
