Wife's uncle has a thousand year old barn which is nearly derelict..he managed to get permission to dismantle and rebuild as a residential with better foundations and the necessary internals for modern living, even though listed as historical...each stone had to be mapped by an expert and rebuilt in same position. It never took place due to cost and planning has lapsed.

What are my PD rights after planning has been granted
gravelrash replied to RichyC's topic in Planning Permission
PD rights are generally removed where the site is contentious i.e. Greenbelt, conservation area and or where the councils are a**e holes. If they are not removed by condition on planning decision then they are still alive...Take it as a win, the PD rights are a great benefit to you. -
Can this be wired into a 13a plug?
gravelrash replied to CotswoldDoItUpper's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
its designed for 3 phase but can be used on single with split live and identical to De Dietrich - as per diagrams, but they must be hardwired with 40amp min and 6mm cable. Do not share connection. -
the supply would be from the tank temp differential controller when it asks for heat, this would need to run through the salus boiler control and then to boiler...would the salus switchung allow the 240v?
-
I have installed a salus kl08nsb controller but need to run a buffer temp differential controller to switch the boiler on via the salus boiler switch, can I use 240v through the salus boiler switching terminals? the salus instructions just show 0volt switching.

Corrugated Asbestos Roof Options
gravelrash replied to OldVirgin's topic in Garage & Cellar Conversions
how old is the roof? unlikely to contain asbestos if sheets made after mid 80's. Also there are a lot of skip companies provide for sheet disposal...but you will need to register the roof with environment agency to receive a serial number for your property...this allows chain of custody when disposing of it. The skip company will take the number and issue you with a disposal number from them. -
why not use perlite or vermiculite which is easily sourced

fixing angle bracket to plasterboard + aircrete Celcon
gravelrash replied to WWilts's topic in General Construction Issues
brown Wall raw plugs and 60mm x 4mm screws. hand screw rather than ragging with power driver -
test guy was pretty shocked at result...he said he normally has to do a second preliminary as most are pretty poor when masonry and even then 2ish is best he has got
-
a few small areas around box lintel welds and around large bifold threshold which will be foamed and tiled over, walls have had a single coat of cement slurry...so probably better when boarded and plastered
-
Just had a preliminary air test on masonry new build flat roof bungalow before I start plaster boarding...Is 1.03 airtightness and 1.3 ACH good at this point? Is it financially worth pursuing lower?
-
I have looked high and low for 3 x 1 battens for corners and reveals. Has any one else had issues and any alternatives?
-
Surely its the same as england in that once development has commenced planning is locked in (will not expire) regardless of time taken to complete. In England its not uncommon to just put a short footing in the ground to start and lock the planning then build or sell years later.
