  1. Here is a video that may be of assistance - How a contractor can charge 5% & not be out of pocket -
  2. Here is a brief video from yesterday on this topic - https://fb.watch/rbMBTBSyhI/
  3. Happy to explain these issues to you. Its long winded and if's and buts involved. Feel free to call me (phone number removed) (admin - remove if unacceptable)
  4. This is a copy of Andrew Jones's on stage presentation at The Home Building & Renovating Show in March 2024 at the NEC (Suggest you watch on youtube) -
  5. If the roofing company are supplying the roof tiles and also fitting them, the whole contract should be VAT free - no VAT charged on the whole contract (project/job/task) .
  6. Leaving 1 wall standing will slow you to qualify for VAT reclaim and zero rating from contractors
  7. Your project will be classed as a conversion in the eyes of HMRC. What that means to you is every contractor coming to site to do work for you should charge you the reduced rate of VAT which is 5% and any purchases you make will be at the usual 20%. Come the end of the build you can reclaim all your VAT, so that’s the 5% you have paid contractors plus the full 20% from the suppliers invoices making your build zero. This will apply to the whole project.
  8. I can 100% assure you, documents with copy on them will be accepted. What they do not like are 1980’s photocopies or scanned copies of till receipts such as B&Q, Tiles r us, Wickes and so on.
