Retrofit timber frame in stone building
nod replied to RoIrl's topic in New House & Self Build Design
I’m doing work on an old barn that’s being timbered out like you describe I can take a few pics if you drop me a reminder -
If it doesn’t cause the render to wag off you will be left with a massive clean up job after the rendering is finished
-
Yep We render right through the winter The render will stand cold temperatures But frost is the worst enemy It needs to be 2 above and rising through the day Ideally scraped the same day Better to have your gutters on Even in summer
-
The Senco ones are the cheapest and do the same job
-
It would depend on the quote If a detailed quote costing and listing every stage You should be fine

Domestic Client's responsibilities (again)
nod replied to AndySat's topic in Project & Site Management
They would be mad to do this He just need to do the obvious Go round at the end of each day Make the site is secure Holes are covered Scaffolding is safe for the following day Accident book diving in book First aid kit Lots of signs Contractors won’t care about any of the above -

Unfortunately As the the client Most of the HSE will fall on your shoulders If there’s a serious accident HSE will come looking for you If you where to employ a main contractor They would take this on -
I run a render company and would never run the render directly against a ally window Joiners or builders for that matter wouldn’t really know If you contact K or Webber or who ever is supplying your render They will all spec a stop bead where the render meets another material
-
It is needed It also makes it much easier for the renderer Mesh first then bead on top unlike the photo
-
I’m doing some micro cement at a job in a couple of weeks Walls and floors Similar cost to tiles I’ve also some engineered flooring at a job I’m at today Glued down But you will still need perimeter expansion gaps
-
Unfortunately it is
-
Which ever you decide to do Use a rotating sponge float It will bring the fat to the surface and come up like glass

Environment Agency Discharge License

I’ve never been asked by LA BC on either of our builds Still don’t understand why the site doesn’t publish location Saves all this nonsense I help moderate two unrelated sites and add the region to everyone’s Avatars -
Yeah I think it applies more to large scale urban renewal Most new developments have thousand of ton of waste taken from site But that’s mostly Clay and isn’t effected by this FOR NOW

I keep saying it But I can’t understand why we all don’t have our location shown Would be helpful Guessing Scotland -
No £4 a tone now Going to increase I didn’t here the whole interview But I think the argument was that housing built on redeveloped sites would increase in price Which seems at odds with this government’s housing policies
