Awkward Shower Shape
canalsiderenovation replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
The other option seems to be as per my drawing and have a walk in shower and tray. Newspaper is based on tray of 1400*800. We could then have the entrance door opening the other side but don't think this is necessarily needed. From squaring it off to the entrance door wall the measurement of the wall is 2.9 metres. -

It's for a second ensuite for the parents/Airbnb (we have our own) so I don't really want to start moving walls etc so armed with some newspaper I've been playing around with the layout. Option one @Bored Shopper your suggestion. This is based on 800*800 tray. Bit worried about the door on a tray and cleaning access. Not sure. -

Its been built already, we have foundations and part built walls ? I'm stupid, the angle never really occured to me before looking from the plans..... -

Oh I never thought of that - in shower storage recesses..... Excuse the crude drawing but would something like this work? Kind of a walk in one if the corner was squared off. I imagine it would need to be 700-800 so would lose a bit of the space. May have to change the entrance door opening side. -

Hmmm I don't really want the shower close to the window and it could end up blocking it. I guess the corner could be squared off and then a D or U shaped shower. -

This is what is on the plans and we have the foundations/walls. It's the only real logical place but don't really want tiles but the tray shape on the plans doesn't exist! Hopefully @Nickfromwales will be along too with some advice. -
In our second ensuite we have quite a small space and are trying to find a suitable shower tray/cubicle we could make work in tn space. The first pic shows the angle we have (see bent piece of metal) against a 90 degree wall and the second pic is the a metal against the esuite wall.

Walk in Shower
canalsiderenovation replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
So we spent yesterday bathroom shopping with no success. The tray has to be 1200mm so my idea of something like this in the pic below is out. I definitely don't want a sliding door and I'd rather not an opening door that is connected to another piece of glass. Something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271562712891 on a 1200mm tray. I'm sure I saw a post from @ProDave on similar topic. -
Almost a month in . . .

It was my wife's, not exactly sure what she was pointing at! -
Things seem to be happening very quickly and progress has gone really well. The block and beam of the huge extension is coming together now and the focus has been outside, although with the occasional downpour the inside is now half empty with our 1970s bathroom suite finally gone. In the interim I've sold everything inside, the kitchen, boiler, naff internal doors and even the crappy floor tiles we took off. All copper and rads ready for my dad to weigh in. Have now run out of stuff to sell! Here are a couple of pics from this week. The final pic, the bank you can see and the path runs 90 metres from the entrance to the end of our garden from one old railway bridge to the other old railway bridge the other end which is over the canal. The railway at the top of the embankment is no more. It was the line that ran from Whitchurch to Chester and we can clamber up to the top of the embankment which is now an overgrown mess of bramble and ivy, no track any longer. We cleared some of the ivy and when we were clearing the garden of shrubs, bulbs and plants that we knew would get disturbed I literally moved every one by hand and planted it on the bank and we have been lucky that the majority of the plants have taken and had daffs, bluebells and lots of other things flower so it looks quite nice, even the foxgloves that seem to have gone crazy. We do need to sort out some sort of wall or something to replace the rockery' bit which was already there. I dread to think of the cost for such a long length. It's not as high in some places and levels off.

Walk in Shower
canalsiderenovation replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
@Ferdinand No the cloaks. I'm not happy with the ensuite shower positioning for the reasons you mention and need to sort that, especially as we have our freestanding bath already purchased! The bath/shower location in the ensuite needs tweaking. We initially weren't having a shower in there but we both realised we needed one for washing hair after a soak in the bath.... Long story.... It could even be a corner one and not that big either. Need to speak to the builder about that. Ps love your bathroom and video. Panels direct onto blockwork? Any suggestions @PeterW -
Walk in Shower
canalsiderenovation replied to canalsiderenovation's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Oooh thanks. Builder said 1200mm would be better but I'm pushing for a 1300mm tray. 100mm makes a big difference ? The issue will be what we have on the walls and thickness. If we went for that one we would only have 20mm spare.... -
Looking at the gap the walk in shower was meant to go tonight and it is smaller than what I thought, I mean it is as it was on the plans but seeing it seems far smaller and I'm now wondering what is best. It's 1320mm and ideally we just want a walk in one with no sliding or pivot door just a glass and a slim tray which needs to fit in between the walls on the Cloaks on the plan. I'm guessing it would be better to have a 1200 size tray to allow for tiles/wall covering and 1300 tray sizes don't seem common. Every walk in shower I've seen this size isn't between two walls. Is it viable to have a walk in shower fitting in this size or is the gap to walk in going to be too small?

Goodbye and Hello

Hope so! At least if it's wet the builder can tackle the inside.... -

I'm not sure, I guess so as we have accidental damage so if it got damaged in the house probably. I'm preferring your option of asking them to store it instead.... -

Good idea! -
Phew, today we said goodbye to our house and moved out and said Hello to our new house, approximately 8 minutes down the road - about 6 miles away to a caravan site. With Covid we were able to negotiate a 4 month deal (we weren't due here til 1 July but our existing knackered flat roof started to leak so negotiated coming early). It's luxury compared to our living arrangements for the past 2 years. We aren't eating, working and sleeping in the same room, have instant hot water, heating and can shower without a bucket under the pipe! We will still be on site pretty much every day and we still have our garden to maintain so will be keeping a close eye on things...

The appliances I can store at my parents but the kitchen itself may be a bit difficult but yes a possible option.... -
Oops!

The oops was that it is a bit premature and they want to take it out of the showroom in August and deliver. I'm hoping we can delay it a bit because I'm sure we will probably be without a roof and windows in August!
