Plonking stuff on!
-
Phew it's all in, had to come in through the window. Here's some pics of what it looked like before it was moved. We just need to try and sort through it all and get it hacked in. Odd couple of scratches we may need to get magicman to sort and then a worktop but we have a dressing room/walk in wardrobe!

They already established the issue, there is no screw it is missing so the handle outside was moving! One has arrived in now so the are coming to fit. -

Yes they are large windows, hopefully they can sort out the seals and then make some adjustments. -
Internorm Window Seals

I wonder if it's the metal things here as this lines up with the damaged seals. It's as if they are a bit lower so are catching, in which case all the windows are catching. -
We have the Internorm distributor coming back this week due to an issue with our sliding door handle coming loose. I noticed last week that one of the seals on the bottom of the window was pretty much ripped away and emailed to ask when they come if they can take a look at this too at the same time (no response yet). I've just been cleaning and noticed that on all but for one window the seals are ripped on all of our opening windows (at the bottom). The one it isn't damaged is our cloak bathroom which isn't opened much so probably has had less use but this just from use over the past few months. Obviously since the install in October/November and us moving back in we haven't had windows opened much until recently. It can't just be the size of the windows (some are big single pane openings) as it's happening on some of the smaller ones too. Has anyone else had the same problem with tilt and turn windows from Internorm? Something can't be right for it to happen to all 8 windows!

Bonkers idea or a great idea?

The mesh was bought already galvanised then cut to size. The steel frame were second hand fence post again ready galvanised with fence brackets on (took 6 posts with off cuts left over). Dad made it all up and welded up in situ then just silver can car spray on weld joints, mesh screw on inside frame to secure, then all bolted in and fixed. -

We have too much, still got another 3 tonne bags plus stuff we need to split. Some is quite small so we may be burning it on the narrowboat in winter. -

I think pallets would have worked fine too and probably cheaper! I'm sure I'll be thankful it's close by our utility door in winter! -

We said exactly the same thing. The chickens quite liked it too so potential chicken coop if we run out of wood. -

Yep, dad got lengths and then cut them and welded them to build the frame and galvanised sheet mesh, again a sheet which we cut three sides from and fixed into the frame. It's cost a small fortune but dad doesn't do anything by halves. -

Finally finished the woodstore, so far roughly moved about 7 tonne bags of wood into it. And yes, those corner bits are leftover bits from the cladding. It's just outside our utility door so convenient for winter. We will plant all round it so you won't see the concrete eventually. -
Indeed. I didn't even realise Porcelanosa did walk in wardrobes/fitted dressing rooms. We had our hearth tiles from there and they weren't cheap! My only worry is it's not got doors it's an open wardrobe sort and I still think it will look messy but the wife says she is organizing everything by colour and it will look like her Pinterest board of walk in wardrobes, hmmm.

I can't get Crunchie out of my head now..... And there is no chocolate in the house anywhere....

A very poorly advertised item on t'internet that didn't mention the make in it but we went to look at it 3 hours away, original invoice was close to £40k. Builder removed items from a swanky house he is working on so presume he had them for free or at a low price and thought he'd take the chance on storing them and selling. Also had some very expensive kitchen appliances that he was told to skip which I guess he will try and flog.

You'll remember our quote for ideas for our dressing room/walk in wardrobe being about £7k purpose built. Ikea PAX was coming in a about £2k for just the frames plus we wanted island, dressing table etc and it didn't quite fit our space. Have just got around 10 metres of Porcelanosa walk in wardrobe/dressing room units plus 1.2m island and dressing table for £1000. It's more units than what we need but we can adjust the configuration to suit and due to the height I'm thinking they will need to go through our windows (good job it's a bungalow) and potentially hacked in/may need magic man to sort out any minor marks. Hopefully won't be noticable when they are fitted. Unfortunately didn't include the granite island top and dressing table granite top but we can explore alternatives to use as worktops. So excited!!!!!

No leaks since new plumber sorted it out, seems to be all sorted and new plumber only charged us £50 which we think is pretty good as he put a new trap and plug on too and discovered the issue. I'm billing old plumber.
-
No, no evidence now of any issues re pressure. I wonder if this may have been a complete coincidence as it only happened once when I turned the tap on and it was low. Turned tap on and off again and it was fine. I will of course keep an eye on this for any other issues but we haven't seen any evidence of any other leaks.
-
Yep bear in mind this guy is supposed to be a professional, has had the company for years according to my internet research and is well known, although I don't think we are his only unhappy customer!
-
It hadn't been filed. Whilst he had put silicone above that black plastic bolt bit I think there was a number of issues which I'll be outlining to him. 1. No black rubber seal used on the white trap connector just oodles of PTFE tape (which had become unwrapped and dangling inside the trap). 2. The trap itself wasn't fitted straight and was loose. 3. The thread on the flange I think it is that @ProDave called it not being cut square. We will see if everything works OK tomorrow when plumber no 2 returns but hopefully I can then outline to old plumber what he did wrong and no doubt he will just blame his apprentice!
-
He's fitted another one today and siliconed it all, told us to leave it for now and he'll pop back tomorrow and check it's all fine. Got the part he took off so if old plumber starts kicking off and saying there was nothing up with it then I'll save it as 'evidence'. If he wants a fight he's picked the wrong person!
-
Nope he's never coming back, new plumber seems decent. When he comes back tomorrow will ask him how much we owe him and I'm billing the old plumber. Took photos of everything, videod it and still have messages from last time we had a leak in the same sink and it wasn't fixed. If he won't pay it I'll take him to the smalls claims on principle and bill him for redecorating costs too where we now have water marks down the wall and get someone independent to inspect the whole bathroom plumbing.
-
Ok so plot thickens, it seems that old plumber has cut the chrome plug thread, no idea why but this lip was also causing issues with seal as it was stepped when it was cut so would never provide a good seal. New plug fitted, new trap fitted and sealed will return tomorrow to check it's all ok. Old plumber can't say it was the equipment as it was a brand new Bristan tap and plug that came together from Amazon! ?
