Sounds exactly what I'm planning on Nick, I've always wondered how to protect the underneath of any insulation?. How have you suspended the timber ring beam, those adjustable pier things used for decking, or just timber legs in concrete? Any pics or designs?

I've got limestone downstairs, with UFH on flexible adhesive and it's fine. It's sealed, and a whole glass of red wine didnt leave a mark.

Thanks for that info, not seen resort deck/outdure before or composite decking co. Have you recevied samples from either? The prices look good compared to Millboard so hopefully samples are good.

Triassic, any ideas on what boards? I'm hoping to build a deck this year and it last for decades, using recycled plastic joists etc and I've had a few deck board samples through and the nicest to me is easily Millboard, but the cost...!!!

What about concreting in plastic/recycled wood like this? http://www.kedel.co.uk/recycled-mixed-plastic-lumber/recycled-mixed-plastic-square-post-with-point-90mm-x-90mm.html I'm thinking of maybe using these as fence posts then horizontal hit and miss timber for a fence later this year, in the hope the posts wont rot and will last pretty much forever, or certainly longer than me.
