  1. Thanks everyone, just ordered a gun Have you found a difference in the foams?
  2. But we need need some sort of damp proofing to stop rising damp even with ICF don't we? Obviously I wouldn't want to pay for the crazy price of a waterproof additive and was told that just having a minimum cement content of 325kg pcm and water cement ratio of 0.5 will give me a waterproof concrete.
  3. Any issues with this gun http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PROFESSIONAL-PU-EXPANDING-FOAM-GUN-APPLICATOR-CHROME-500ML-GUN-CLEANER-/181107512711?hash=item2a2ad95587:g:2YAAAOxymiVQ~WXp
  4. So you don't have to clean it at all in those 30 days?
  5. was told not to
  6. Do you have to clean the gun after every use or can you store it? A YouTube video said you can leave it on the gun for 30 days??? Also, are all guns the same or is there a specific one to get?
  7. 80mm slump was quoted by Polarwall. Height will be up to and including gables but obviously separated at each floor
  8. Yeah, it's for up to DPC.
  9. So yours was an ICF build Alex? I'm pretty certain I'm going to need a larger boom pump too
  10. Can totally understand if you're doing around windows etc. but do you still think it's worth it for general filling when you take the extra expense of the gun and cleaner? Does the cleaner instantly dissolve the foam?
  11. I haven't used expanding foam for quite a while and then only the normal cans with plastic nozzle. I need to order some to help me level up the first course of ICF but don't know whether to get the gun type or plastic nozzles? What's the big advantage of buying/using a gun?
  12. Is that 100% right? The only reason I ask is the concrete supplier who was originally gonna supply my foundation concrete who knew it was gonna be pumped, has said he cannot do the ICF mix as he doesn't supply concrete with 10mm aggregate. Small price to pay - is that said with a touch of sarcasm????
  13. That's what I'd have assumed too but just thought I'd ask
  14. That's why I knew it must of been you, Alan mentioned pumping through a 2" line pump
  15. The link Temp gave shows that the 40 in the RC 32/40 refers to 40 Newton/28 day strength, but any idea what the 32 is?
  16. Hello mate - was it you pumping up the hill then??
  17. It's in the East Midlands and is a very basic agreement between 2 agreeing parties - so how can they justify anything more than £450-500. I've rang my original solicitor who dealt with my plot purchase and am waiting for a quote
  18. I used a company for my footings who mixed in a volumetric mixer on site. I used more than I originally thought I would and someone has said to me that you use approx. 18% more concrete when it's mixed on site, than in a depot and delivered to site. Something to do with how the dry vs mixed amount is measured out/sold/weighed. Has anyone ever heard of that as I will be ordering a lot more concrete over the next few months? Cheers Vijay
  19. From my foundation pour I would agree with you and the pump bloke was really annoying with wanting to add more water to things. It was a smaller company and they really want my ICF concrete business, so are working to get it right. I've already warned them that any tickets for wrong concrete will be turned away and I will have a slump cone for random tests
  20. Thanks for that link, really helpful! The mix is specific so it falls into the ICF properly and sets at the right rate, so not to cause bursts.
  21. He's selling the land so won't be my neighbour lol I don't mind paying but I just hate being ripped off. The solicitor kept making mistakes which meant things had to go back and forth and I don't see why I should be paying for that. Around the £450 mark sounds about right to me for a basic agreement.
  22. That's exactly what I'm going to do but just wondered if I was being stupid thinking £729 is excessive but the neighbour has already got shitty, telling me to stop fussing when I said that seems excessive. Not sure if it includes the LR fees which you'er right, is £90 according to their website
  23. Morning guys, Having a little issue with finding a concrete supplier who will give me the exact spec I require, which is: DESIGNATED CONCRETE to external walls Designation: RC32/40. Fibres: Not required. Aggregates: - Size (maximum): 10 mm. - Coarse recycled aggregates: RCA permitted. - Additional aggregate requirements: Rounded coarse aggregate. Special requirements for cement/ combinations: CEM 1 Consistency: S2 slump range with an ideal slump to around 80mm Chloride class: Normal. Admixtures: Waterproofing admixture below d.p.c. to wall system manufacturer's approval or a high cement concrete to BS8007 with minimum cement content of 325kg/cu.m and water cement ratio of 0.5. Just looking for some help with what things mean. Firstly, the RC32/40 - is that the strength of the concrete? From other posts, I believe the R stands for reinforced as it will have rebar in it? I've been assured that having a minimum cement content of 325kg pcm and water cement ratio of 0.5 will give me a waterproof concrete without the stupid expense of waterprrof additive, but has anyone come across this before as I'm a little worried about that? Vijay
  24. We had a boundary dispute where we quite amicably agreed the fence was to be the actual boundary. He asked his solicitor to draw up an agreement (which I had to correct a few times as they made references to things not marked on the plan) which will be logged with Land Registry and have now said the cost is £729. I cant help thinking that is majorly excessive, especially considering my solicitor charged me just over £1k when I purchased the plot. I was expecting around £3-400 and just wondered what others thought it should cost? Cheers Vijay
  25. Ballast would be easier but I don't know how it compares price wise to getting the parts individually. I personally would get ballast if I was mixing myself
