Could of been haha. I’m praying it was a bird My wife will have a nervous breakdown if we have mice
-
Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture before i removed it. I can take a picture of the hole though?
-
No I don’t think it was mud. Definitely looked like a lump of chocolate. I plugged the hole wit some paper to see if it’s being used by a mouse
-
It was a big enough lump too looked like chocolate or something. I live in a terraced timberframe house so I hope it isn’t a mouse or he will be in the house in no time.
-
Anyone ever come across a lump of food pushed into a brick mortar joint? it’s as if a mouse tried to carry food into it. it’s about 8 feet up the wall. Very strange
-
Does anyone know what this blue baton thing is under the brick, where the mortar joint is supposed to be? It’s a terraced house and its where the houses join. is it some sort of cavity closer? Theres no mortar in the joint. It’s not a dpc
-
Never thought of That to be honest. Could do that. Although I’m thinking is the unused one venting my system. Would it have a negative effect?
-
It rises to the bedroom and is capped off. I had a look at it last year and it looked like a cap on it. Must be an AAV? Would it be standard practice to put an AAV on an unused stack like that?

There’s no smells coming from the pipe either
-
I have listened for noises but nothing obvious. I’ll check again tonight and give it a good smell when the toilet had been flushed. This waste pipe in runs out to a trapped gully. I don’t know if that makes a difference
-
I’d say about 2 hours to fill a cup. I had a heating engineer out to fix it today. I also bought. Dehumidifiers from screw fix might be too small though? It’s a 12lt one
-
It’s on the ground floor Nick
-
Had a listen there nothing obvious. I can hear the sink drain from the bathroom. So that must connect to the washing machine drain. it’s weird that the smell goes away after a few mins. I checked the unused soil stack it’s capped off has no Aav.
-
I see a fast dripping but I can’t tell where it’s leaking from. It’s a drip every second. Bout a week it’s been going on I’d say. only some of the grout lines are have water seeping out. Maybe a void in those areas? As some of the other posters were saying.
-
Yeah it’s only some grout lines it’s showing up in. Would the wall be protected with a dpc? One less thing to worry about maybe.
-
I may have no choice. I might just wait and see what happens.
-
Oh no not what I was hoping to hear. What would be worst case scenario if I were to just rent a dehumidifier and not bother lifting the tiles? Money is tight at the moment can’t afford to get it relaid.
-
Is it possible for the trap to be sucked out and then reappear without be running water through it? Silly question I know
-
I’lll have a look tonight the pipe extends half way up the bedroom above it. Could the AAv opening cause the smell?
-
I’ve had a leak under my boiler for 7 days before Ive noticed it. the water has run under the walls and under the tiles on my floor( coming up through grout) Should I be concerned about mould behind the walls? Will I need to replace skirting boards they are soaked. Any tips on getting the place to dry out? cheers

Anyone have any idea why when I flush my toilet, my utility room stinks of sewage. This only happens for a few mins and then the smell disappears again. I have a washing machine in there and a boxed in soil pipe that’s unused was supposed to be for an ensuite. could the washing machine trap be getting sucked out? when I check the trap it’s got water in it though.

Wow that’s very good for DIY secondary glazing. I am very impressed. so I didn’t get round to doing it yet but it’s on my mind every night. My only concern with it is my house only has the trickle vents for ventilation , so I’m afraid I might cause an increase in humidity.
-
Yea it’s Soudal fix all. I used a Fugi tool and baby wipes. Always leaves a professional finish. I once paid a mastic man to seal my shower he was very expensive so I decided it was time to learn the craft. I agree with the smell was surprising considering it claims no Odour. I painted over it too and the paint keeps cracking.
-
Just incase anyone wondered about the workability of soudal fix all for sealing the internal window frame. I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s difficult to tool. Also I think caulk blends in nicer.
