  1. Thanks Dave, so I’m basically gluing the plywood onto the flimsy hardboard then screwing through both into stud? Never even thought of that to be honest. Much better than seeing a batten inside cabinet
  2. I’ve about 10mm at the back. I was thinking of just fixing a batten on the inside and fixing through that? or would 10mm plywood be enough to use at the back
  3. Thanks lads I’m thinking middle myself looks right
  4. Thanks I’ve just had bad experiences with plasterboard fixings failing I’ve a few monkeys at home
  5. I was just thinking this but it has a flimsy back. The stud is right in the middle too
  6. I have to mount a heavy cabinet onto my bathroom wall. It’s a finished wall and not going to hit any studs. it’s an Ikea Hemmes bathroom cabinet. Ive attached a picture of my wall make up. It’s an exterior wall in a timber frame house with 35x45 service battens on the studs. im considering cutting open the wall and adding plywood not sure how I would secure it to 35mm battens though. any help would be much appreciated
  7. Shower riser rail and shower head - which should be central? It’s above a bath with a screen
  8. I forgot to ask. What is the correct way to seal ducting like this on both ends? I saw diagrams online and there supposed to be sealed. will stuffing wire wool down without foam do the job? I read that foam can damage pipe?
  9. No it’s finished install my neighbours the same too. seems to be the norm

  16. I should add every single socket on my exterior walls leak air I doubt this is fixable by myself without a large cost
  17. How would I go about stopping air getting out through sockets, is there any handy solutions? you are right I’d probably be tearing the hole house back to the studs to find those air leaks
  18. To be honest id rather just fix it myself I wouldn’t be bothered with chasing airtight results as they probably lied anyway. Is my only option ripping down plasterboard on that wall and inspecting vcl?
  19. It has a continuous foil membrane. I’m assuming it’s not taped well or it’s punctured somewhere
  20. Just a stud wall with plasterboard It’s just a handset holder they put it right above the taps. If I could refix it and seal it will silicone I’ll just leave it there and install a new riser bar
