Hi guys I need to install some conduit through the wall for some cameras. Is there any tricks when drilling through the exterior wAll in a timber frame? I’m concerned once I hit the insulation behind the osb board It’s going to end up wrapping around the drill and messing everything up in there.

Hi guys, I’ve an esbe 3 port Diverter valve that seems to be slightly stuck. Does anyone know of it’s possible to manually force it closed to unstick it? I think there is sediment stopping it, as it’s a new valve.

The panel has little inward curves (wood panel effect?) where the seal is , so that’s where the water is getting past the seal I think. There’s no drain holes on the face either. So should this door had some sort of internal drainage? It’s only two years old. I could try and replace the seal on the outside but it probably won’t seal very well even with a new seal against the panel curves

Also it doesn’t look like the seals can be removed on the outside?

Oh right I thought those doors had drainage in the inside like Upvc windows?

I had the i plastic panel out the other day and could see it had no hole drilled for drainage. Can I drill straight down through that metal infill bar at the bottom of the door?

Leaking from the bottom of the beading

I haven’t a clue where to start. Do you mean drill down so it meets with the channel in the door cill?

Hi everyone, I have a Upvc back door that has water leaking into the house from the beading that holds in the glass. I took off the beading and the channel underneath the glass is full of water. What should one do to remedy this problem? Drilling drainage holes? Through to the bottom of the door? Thanks

Hi guys, I need to replace my exterior door in my new timberframe house. What should I do about the airtightness tape around frame? Can I cut it and just put new tape over it once the new door is fitted? I want to keep it airtight. I’m afraid the fitters will just foam it and cover the damage with beading. Thanks

Thank you for the replies. I read somewhere that timber frames need Differential movement joints at door openings and window openings. ( i also have gaps underneath one of my window sills) Is this actually a done thing?

Hi does anyone have any idea why there’s a gap underneath my back door sill? There’s no mortar it’s just been left open, is it a movement gap or something? Could I fill this with expanding foam and silicone? thanks

No unfortunately he didn’t fit one for me. He said it wasn’t needed. No no return valve either.

I’ve had an outdoor tap fitted with a press fit fitting and multilayer pipe. The fitting is inside the wall/ cavity and I’m not comfortable with the idea it could possibly leak in the future and I wouldn’t know. Should I get a plumber in to redo this? Or just leave it alone? Would soldered fittings be better for this? thanks

I have an Aereco dcv system in wet rooms, air inlet is through humidity controlled trickle vents. rh levels stay below 50. I try to open windows in the mornings.

Thanks for the reply’s lads. My house was built by a developer so I’d say it’s likely that the vcl isnt even properly sealed to begin with. No point in me worrying about small holes is there.

So No reason to be concerned about the punctures in the Vcl? thanks for your reply

I used to erect timber frames about 17 years ago I can’t remember there ever being a vcl fitted, it was just insulation then we boarded it and rarely was it foil backed . We always fitted a breather membrane though. Is it because of increased airtightness that they’re needed now? My current new build has had the vcl drilled and screwed into by the blind fitter adding those safety clips for the cords. will this have any affect on the timber frame and insulation going forward?
