Well those look a bit more attractive than the things that generally scurry around walls in houses in the UK! -

I didn’t calculate the written-down value either -

I definitely don’t have 1200 pairs like Imelda Marcos lol! I’ve probably got about 50 or 60 pairs but have never counted . -
It’s not to scale though is it as the clear part is vast the majority of the window according to the drawing.
-
Not enough to cover them I would have thought. Fingers crossed anyway.

So you verbally said ok to the picture of the window that clearly hasn’t got a massive black border around it. All you were saying ok to was the size of the clear part of the window then surely? They can’t black most of it out later. When I signed off windows I had to write my name in blood pretty much.

I've still got mine awaiting the time when I try them again (that'll never arrive!) . Just bought new distance ones instead. It came to a head when I was going down some stairs and felt like I was going to fall so had to grab the handrail and cling on before I removed the damn glasses and all was fine again lol.

I have a similar dilemma. I used to use glasses to correct distance slightly which worked ok and I could still read and see everything else with them on. About a year ago I could no longer see to read with them on so was persuaded to try varifocals. Never got on with those as I just felt like I was going to fall over constantly so stopped wearing glasses at all unless I was driving as on off was driving me nuts. But now I can’t see the screen at work when I’m sitting at a desk and I can’t read it with either the distance glasses or reading glasses so I’m stuffed lol. Maybe I should look at your solution @ProDave Hubby had laser treatment on his eyes and went from needing distance glasses 24x7 to not needing glasses for distance at all. BUT he couldn’t read text at all without reading glasses after that. He was warned that it could speed up his need for reading glasses but it was instant. He used to use reading glasses off and on before, but after the treatment he couldn’t see to read at all without them. If we went out for a meal (for example) and he forgot them I had to read the menu for him. It was 20 years ago so maybe things are different now. The upside was that the laser had made his eyes exactly the same so cheap readers were all he needed as his right and left eyes were identical.

When my husband was doing the build here he found it all quite motivating all the time there were trades in and he was working alongside them, organising things etc. Then when they had gone and he was doing the vast majority of the work himself on his own he found it a very lonely place and the enormity of the task ahead hit home. Rather than it being an exciting project that he had always wanted to do (so he said at the start) it became a chore. I was at work all day and he found it difficult to be here totally alone and just work on the house. He ended up getting a part time job in the mornings simply to change things. He was pretty much as productive with the part time job as he was before because he didn't spend all morning trying to get motivated to start on something. Then later when my husband was sick and later died and everything was down to me I couldn't get my head around doing anything on the house for about 6 months afterwards as I wasn't in the right headspace at all. So I just stopped until I felt motivated enough to continue again. It can really become something you hate if you let it. So take some days off (don't wait until June as that won't help you with the rest of April and May), do something enjoyable, relax, and then see about starting afresh. Maybe you could try to get some mates in to help on a they help you, you help them basis? It's often easier to work alongside others for the camaraderie and chat, and that often helps to keep things moving along. Yes you would have to spend some time on their things too but you would have people to help move yours along too.

Just looked at mine. Timber frame kit and windows / doors 75k (net cost of materials only). That was back in 2009. Didn’t include the blocks for the outside, or roof tiles, or foundations and countless other things. % of total build costs 22%.

Land grabbing — anyone done it?

How does anyone know if it’s been 10 years? So you could write after 6 for example? -
But no bugger lives up here so twice is quite a feat! Where are the ones in Borough Green? A25?

Hope you didn't get paint on your hands ........ We should be good on this thread until Wed as @pocster doesn't get an update until then. And then you can help fit the new windows if you are feeling guilty
