Rajani Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Good morning all, I have been asked by the building control to render the wall as it has severe weather exposure. However due to the planning requirement we have to have brick finish. Any suggestions or way around this ? Many thanks
ProDave Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Go back and tell planning that "building regs say it MUST be rendered"

dpmiller Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 why *must* it be rendered? Surely the requirement for render or equivalent is only for solid walls, and isn't required for cavity. A check reveal is required in NI (and Scotland?) though.
ADLIan Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Assuming in England Appr Doc C gives maximum exposure zones for a range of cavity wall details - fair faced or render? full or part fill insulation? cavity width? etc. 1
