Not a recognised method of insulating cavity walls and not BBA approved so would not comply with the Regs (north or south of the border). Injection of foam once the wall is complete is allowable but some of these systems are to cure wall tie failure and are not certified thermally - the completeinsulations.ie system referred to above falls into this category.

Hi @ADLIan I know it's an old thread, wanted to check whether this message is only applicable to Walltite or any cavity spray foam? Icenyne http://www.uksprayfoam.co.uk/icynene-ultra-seal-select-cavity-fill-closed-cell-insulation/ seems to have certification?

Hi,

i would chose a cavity wall over the solid wall, and to overcome the flooding -

build a plinth wall on the outside of the cavity wall, with a tanking membrane between the external skin and the plinth up to a level above the flood level.  the plinth could be engineering brickwork.  And on top of that you can fit floor barriers to the doors.

@oldkettleCheck with manufacturer. Read the certificate very carefully. Does not appear to cover cavity between 2 masonry leaves (a traditional masonry cavity wall detail)

What about http://www.uksprayfoam.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Icynene-UltraSeal-Select-Cavity-Fill-Agrement.pdf - are these not accepted in England?

That one looks to be more relevant. Your bco will have to decide if kiwa certificate is acceptable. Kiwa cert looks to be very much desk top study based. BBA have full size test rigs to make sure cavity gets fully filled and system will resist rainwater penetration - not sure if kiwa do this,

Thank you.

I must admit this is quite odd and frustrating. The foam is not new and they have been advertising if for cavity walls for years. If - IF - this were an approved method it would be a nice alternative to beads which require a much wider cavity to achieve the same u-value.
