Klim Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Hello Has anyone else purchased windows from an EU country and if so, how easy has it been to show that they meet the SBD (Section 2) requirements, alongside any other British Standards necessary? Would be good to know the manufacturer if anyone else has been in same position. We have looked at Rationel and Velfac but would would like to purchase from a different manufacturer in Denmark, however, having problems mapping the standards across to know that Building Control (Scotland) will pass. Many thanks.
mvincentd Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Can you say which manufacturer....it might lead to a succinct and definitive answer from someone who's already used them. I have Danish windows...Ideal Combi.
nod Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Ours are manufactured in the UK But they are a Polish company We visited the factory and while most of the office where Brits Nearly all the workforce are Polish I think if you use an established manufacturer The risks are no greater than using a U.K. manufatorer
ToughButterCup Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Gaulhofer via Ecowin ( @craig ) . Expensive , but everyone who visits comments on how good they look.

We also have Gaulhofer windows and incorporated the requirement to meet SBD and BR into my purchaase specification and contract. Insist that the supplier confirms their ability to meet the relevant standards and regulations and make it part of the contract
craig Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 The biggest issue isn’t the standards as every EU country including the UK, follows the EU norms, it’s pairing them. We recently had an issue that took sometime to resolve because of this reason, misunderstandings etc. Not all certificates from EU suppliers are in English either. The standards for example BS:6375-1, 2, 3 (PAS:24) are variations of the EU Norm 14351-1.
Klim Posted January 14, 2019 Author Posted January 14, 2019 Many thanks all. It is the Danish manufacturer SparWindows. They have come back today to confirm that the windows are tested to EN 14351-1 CE-markings, however it’s unclear if that is enough to cover the British SBD requirements. Going back to building control at moment and if clarification will post for info.
