Ed_MK
The wife really liked this Chartwell Green colour. So the windows that we are ordering are stated as this colour. but its NOT a RAL or even a REAL colour ...so we are having to Mix (never done it before) Apparently the closest match is 14c35 Which is £84 for 5L from Brewers ! ..not including "special primer" I mean every external beam and any other woodwork is supposed to be painted with this stuff. Can this price be right ?
PeterW
What product is that for ..?? Gloss, satin, eggshell..?? I pay £46+VAT for mixed gloss to a colour we use and that’s for 5 litres from Johnstones

MikeSharp01
Brewers are usually keen on price. We paid about that for our exterior RAL colour from DULUX weathershield range.
lizzie
You have the BS code (similar to RAL code), you can go anywhere and get any paint mixed in the colour if you give them the code. I used Brewers for years (had a whole house in F&B & Little Greene) however on this build they didnt offer me as good a discount as the dulux decorator centre so I had all my paint mixed to my codes in various Dulux finishes. Good quality paint, good discounts and nectar points.....and they delivered (free) to site for me which my Brewers didnt offer either. Solidor.co.uk are suggesting your quoted BS number or a RAL6021 (not a perfect match) as Chartwell Green options. That green is everywhere its very popular and I imagine most of it is the copy colour. I would get a sample tin made up in both BS and RAL alternatives and see which one you prefer then choose your paint to get it mixed in....samples generally only in small tins of emulsion. Mumsnet is a hive of discussion on copying paint coloursLOL Its a lovely green. Good luck. Edited May 14, 2018 by lizzie
Ed_MK
When you say a GOOD price ....I might be a little daft on mixed paint. but does 5L for £85 sound a good price ...? I have never bought a MIXED before and when i think about 5L my mind tells me it should be around £30-£40 (sigh)
lizzie
Mixed will be more expensive. You can keep costs down by using cheaper paint such as Johnstones. TBH I would go for a quality exterior such as Dulux weathershield withe the 5 year guarantee. Zinser good specialist paints but I wouldnt use them for all my external paint they will be more than a Dulux.....Valspar from B&Q is quite cheap but I dont know the quality. PeterW
valspar is pretty hideous but I’ve never had an issue with Johnstones Trade and their technical support is very good too. @Ed_MK that looks like a water based stain cover not an undercoat they have quoted. Let me check what Johnstones would charge.
newhome
I used Johnstones for a colour mixed pliolite for the render and thought it was fairly reasonably priced. Until it was done and I didn’t like it so covered it all up in an off the shelf Dulux Weathershield. Oops lol.
newhome
My next door neighbours have the windows and doors of their listed cottage in that colour (or very similar) and it looks very attractive.

Temp
Is it just wood you are painting or metal as well? I ask because Zinsser are known for special paints for metal or damp locations.
Ed_MK
Its all Wood but we have decided that as there are only 2 materials 1. the PVC windows and doors which ARE Chartwell green. 2. and the outside woodwork, beams and gutter backs etc ....we would do these in a Dulux Weathershield CLOSE match mix I am hoping different materials and stuff wont show a HUGE variance
