hmpmarketing
Hey all, On my quest to build my garden / office, I think I have settled for a flat roof design however I am unsure on what to use for my roof. Initially I was going for a gable roof (I have a lot of spare roof tiles left) but I think it will be a bit costly, so looking for recommendations, GRP, EDPM, etc or any new stuff on the market! Can someone chime in? Cheers!

Russell griffiths
I have just been on the catnic training course for the standing seam roofing sheets, I liked the product very much and it is nice and easy to work with. Just depends on the look you are after.
Russell griffiths
I have also just put a fibre glass roof on my kitchen, very impressed with the robustness of it after it being on for a year easy enough to do yourself, although I have had a lot of fibre glass experience before. Jeremy Harris
Another vote for using GRP. Pretty easy to DIY, just need to be sure everything is DRY and stays DRY. Best place for all the stuff to do it is CFS in Cornwall: https://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS_Catalogue__FLAT_ROOFING_21.html https://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/1project-roofs.html
Russell griffiths
Moisture is your enemy with grp, I had a large blowtorch that I kept the ply nice and toasty before any work commenced, I was doing this in December which is probably stupid, but as our roof decided to give up a week before Christmas I had no choice. Yeah I agree with you Russel Brilliant stuff I did mine last year It does help if you have a bit of exsperiance with it Unlike me I’m still trying to get the resin off my hands Glad I masked the render up though
PeterW
If you’ve got tiles left over then that surely will be cheapest as all you need is a roll of membrane and some battens. Ridge and edges can be done with cement board and mortar. GRP is the best for flat roofing by far but isn’t cheap. EDPM is ok but needs a lot more fiddly detailing. The key with both is to keep it dry as everyone has said ..!
hmpmarketing
I was quoted 55m2 for GRP, I have no DIY know how to do such work, but thanks for the recommendations!
