Hi all,

We're at the stage of the build where we are trying to now fix some decisions and get everything lined up for later this year. Following going to many suppliers, we have settled on Rationel supplied by a local company for all doors/windows.

The one query we have is that they are pushing for Aluminium (Cortizo 4600) sliding doors for the two openers. These are 2.6m and 4m, on the same elevation but separate. Their rationale for advising aluminium for these is better longevity, less seasonal movement and therefore fewer call-backs, etc. Both Rationel and Cortizo have their own ten-year guarantees on different aspects, and the supplier has a 10-year installation guarantee (6-year insurance-backed).

Now I would be happy to go with their recommendations, but I would like to double-check whether this is an industry-wide thought, or just this local supplier.  Rationel supply and guarantee at these widths, so they are clearly happy with their products.

It would be good to hear any thoughts on this.

Thank you

Jonny

One thing to check is whether they are SBD or PAS24 approved, required for a new build.

I'm sure the Rationel will be but the Cortizo may not be - the 4600 isn't their most common model. We bumped into a situation where they have a PAS24 certified configuration of their Cor Vision, but not their Cor Vision Plus. BCO wouldn't allow the Plus.

Cortizo is rebranded a lot so might be a bit less consistent.

If you can, it's nice to be hands on with these big sliders to get a feel for their quality
