Great_scot_selfbuild Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The roofers have just finished welding the lead flashing; I've 2 questions: 1. How do I clean off the white staining? (the flashing on the garage rooflights hasn't had this appear). 2. They've only welded the folds at the corners. Should I expect (or ask for the vertical mid-section overlaps to be welded? Mr Punter Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Well I could not view the image or the vid, but you need to put patination oil on lead to prevent the oxidizing. 1
stu w Posted 47 minutes ago Posted 47 minutes ago As said, clean off if necessary with some white vinegar, then coat with patination oil
torre Posted 31 minutes ago Posted 31 minutes ago The vertical overlap looks okay to me, to allow for expansion. Was that lead fresh off a roll? The white staining can be cleaned off as mentioned and patination oil applied but I'd expect the roofers to have done this as part of the job 1

If they think they can pas the buck, or dodge a bullet, well......... However, if it's entered in early as a part of the remit, then they know they have to do it or not get paid.
