Post and beam Posted yesterday at 17:41 Posted yesterday at 17:41 I was told today by the warranty providers inspector that all internal doors need to be in place before i can move in. I really want and need to move out of our crappy rental house at £1500/month and move into the new build. It is not 'finished' but is very nearly livable. The minimum number of doors i thought we need to have in place is 3. Bathroom, downstairs wc and our bedroom. We have no skirting or acrchitraves and not much in the way of decorated walls. By this weekend we will have all 2nd fix electrics in place. The plumbing already is finished. I believe there is a process by which the building control office will allow you to move in short of final sign off. i have e mailed them for a determination. What have you done along these lines? i guess its not unusual to do this? Thanks in advance as always guys keith
ToughButterCup Posted yesterday at 18:14 Posted yesterday at 18:14 Nothing to lose, nobody is going to evict you are they? Just Bloody Do It
Bonner Posted yesterday at 18:32 Posted yesterday at 18:32 I don’t believe there is any BC sign off required to move in (in Englan). We didn’t engage with them before we moved in part completed. What we did was ensure buildings and contents insurance was covered.
MPH243 Posted yesterday at 19:12 Posted yesterday at 19:12 We moved in before all 2nd fix electric and plumbing was finished but was safe, building control was not interested. Site Insurance only covered building not contents so had to arrange separately. I don't believe warranty provider can tell you about moving in.
nod Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Tell the warranty inspector it’s nothing to do with them Weve moved in nearly 12 months before we where ready for sign off No doors or loo Just porta
JamesP Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago We were in for 3 years before private BC got pushy. Just go for it. Have a read :
Post and beam Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago I got told this morning by east herts BC that all internal door, skirting and architraves need to be in place before we can move in! If true, i doubt it and hope not, then i have an issue. I expect the decorative stuff to take a year to get finished. I dont have another years rent left in the kitty 1

Post and beam Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago No fire doors in the house anywhere. If i configured the house internally as open plan there would be nowhere to hang doors from which makes the thing even more pointless.
Thorfun Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Our BCO said it was between us and our insurance company.

We informed insurers that we were moving in before completion, they did not impose any conditions or additional premium. 1

Load of old bo**ocks as far as I can see.
