Budgethouse Posted yesterday at 16:43 Posted yesterday at 16:43 Is it possible to build an "outdoor office with a bathroom and kitchen" under Permitted development, and then once built, change the interior to add a bedroom and apply for a change of use as an ancillary accommodation? If someone did this they wouldn't need an initial planning permission. How strict and observant do councils tend to be with permitted developments and how do they go about enforcing an inspection?
nod Posted yesterday at 17:13 Posted yesterday at 17:13 Our neighbor has been granted planning for a leisure building Lots of restrictions No one to live or stay overnight I would imagine that if they moved there sons in it would be very difficult to enforce But could never be sold as a dwelling

Normally, the Council will act on a complaint and then give the owner a chance to normalise the situation by submitting retrospective planning. If the planning then fails the building would need to be modified to something acceptable (or meets PD), or removed.
Nickfromwales Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Unless you piss someone off, this can be yours to do what you like with after it’s signed off. Nobody’s really going to give two hoots, as long as there’s no noise complaints or parties held there you’ll be fine. I was ‘planning’ the exact same thing, for guest stay overs. Likelihood is that my oldest would have gone in there and refused to come back out.
DevilDamo Posted 51 minutes ago Posted 51 minutes ago Why don’t you just submit a Householder application for the erection of a detached annexe ancillary to the existing dwelling? One application, one fee, one Planning process, less headache?
