richo106 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Hi All I am in need of some help if possible. Basically I am installing a new bathroom in my house and I am ready to order the materials for it and was just looking at the wastes etc.. But when i measured it out the waste for my shower falls perfectly on a joist. Please see attached photo, green lines being the shower and the red rectangle being the waste that is needed (if I go with that shower) The posi joists are PS9, 75x225mm @ 400 centres. My question is do I simply just have to a pick a different shower tray with waste that will fit between my joists? Or is there a way to 'engineer' this out so the top section of the posi joist can be removed to make way for my waste?(my preferred option as this with match all the other bathroom items) Any advice/information on this will be greatly appreciated, When looking on the internet its not looking hopeful i can touch my posi joists but would love to get a definitive answer Many Thanks

Pick a different tray. If you muck with the joist then to get an SE will set you back say £ 600.00 quid.. they will add a bit for your stupidity. If you don't pay for an SE and get caught.. you are in bother.. or you floor may fall down! Get a tray with the hole positioned to avoid the joist. Spend your saving on something you see and get enjoyment out of, towel rail, tiles, higher quality sanitary ware. Edited 21 hours ago by Gus Potter

dpmiller Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago have you space to batten that side wall out an inch or two, and shift the tray over a bit? Does the selected tray's waste have multiple outlet points?
crispy_wafer Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Had the same issue - I ended up fitting a Kudos Connect2 tray to get me out of bother.

This is the exact one I have picked as a back up, are you pleased with it? As pleased as you can be with a shower tray anyway
crispy_wafer Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Wont lie, got two, one had to be swapped 4 times because of stone resin that had set on the underside of the drainage outlet that I wanted to use, I was unwilling to sand/grind it off incase I fubar'd the tray. The company I purchased from were first class in dealing with the issue for me, even though the tray had sat for 6 months or so without me unpacking or installing. This was the first time I'd actually rejected the replacements before they even got off the delivery van. All good in the end though. In terms of the tray, yeah it looks good, don't even notice it now! Edited 10 hours ago by crispy_wafer 1
Oz07 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I think deciding on shower tray is a pretty crucial decision very early in the process. My last place was a bungalow and I decided, and maybe bought it before even coming up out of the ground. Got the 110 waste pipe bang on centre of the shower waste I'm sure there are enough different layouts of tray to get you out of trouble on a first floor but for gf showers in solid floor it's especially important.
