Pointless conditions

This condition on our granted PP made me chuckle.  3 long and 1 short stay places 😂

The development hereby permitted shall not be occupied until the property has provision within its curtilage for secure cycle parking facilities. The proposed dwelling shall provide 3 long and 1 short stay places. The cycle storage shall thereafter be retained and maintained in perpetuity. REASON: To improve provision for cyclists and discourage the use of the private car wherever possible and in accordance with Policies CN9 and EM10 of the Basingstoke and Deane Local Plan 2011- 2029

I suspect long stay means some kind of enclosed bike store to protect them from the elements and short stay just means a stand you can lock it to?

 

Presumably you don't have to make these available to Joe public 🙂

In the old days, we just chained bikes to downpipes. Occasionally, it was my own bike.

OK that’s all future owners and even when we’re all using nuclear fusion-powered roller skates to get around. How sensible. It would be nice if they spent even 5 minutes thinking about these conditions.

Many of us hanker for such long lost days of freedom and lack of worry that it'd be nicked
